canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Sam & Cat: Cancelled by Nickelodeon, No Season Two

by Trevor Kimball, July 13, 2014

Sam and Cat TV show canceled, no season 2Well it seems that Nickelodeon has indeed cancelled Sam & Cat. The sitcom is ending after one extended season.

A combined spin-off of Victorious and iCarly, Sam & Cat finds Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) and Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande) becoming friends and roommates. To make money they start an after-school babysitting business. Maree Cheatham, Cameron Ocasio, and Zoran Korach co-star.

The series was initially picked up for 20 episodes and they started airing in June 2013. It was such a big hit that the cable channel ordered 20 more after just one month of airings.

The series was on track to be renewed for a second season but some backstage issues derailed Sam & Cat towards the end of its first year of production, resulting in only 36 episodes being produced.

The sitcom was later put on “permanent hiatus” and Nickelodeon was expected to make a final decision about the show’s future at a later date.

Well, they appear to have quietly made that decision and the show is over.

The cable channel recently started airing promos promoting that just two episodes remain. One runs tonight — “#WeStealARockStar” — while the series finale of Sam & Cat will air next Saturday Thursday at 7:30pm. It’s titled “#GettinWiggy.”

7/13 update: Nickelodeon has released a statement regarding the cancellation, “Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat… We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best.”

What do you think? Are you sorry that Sam & Cat has been cancelled? Do you think the show should have been renewed?

The Suits a Nick are so “Lumpatious?!”

The killed True Jackson & that show was a crack up.

Now there are only re-runs like Drake & Josh, H2O, iCarly ,SpongeBob, Victorious, & Zoey101… Yea and would it kill them to rerun True Jackson?

“Why do they got to be so Lumpatious?!”

The new stuff just dosn’t cut the mustard except AwesomnessTV! Get Set Go!!!!

I’m so done with Nickelodeon. It looks like the Winx will finally leave that sorry network and go back to Cartoon Network.

Sam and Cat may be gone from Nickelodeon’s lineup possibly for good, but at least they still have the Thundermans, the Haunted Hathaway’s, Sanjay and Craig and coming later this month Henry Danger. I still hope that the Winx Club will most likely return to Nickelodeon beyond next year.

Good riddance to this garbage show. Haunted Hathaways and The Thundermans are much better quality shows.

My daughter and I love this show. It’s funny and a great show, I wish it wasn’t being cancelled. The pictures were accidental and Sam deserves the same pay as cat. Fix it Nickelodeon. All that will be left is crappy shows like Sanjay and Craig. Ridiculous.

Sanjay & Craig is a great throwback to the 90s cartoons. It’s hilarious and heartfelt unlike this crappy show.

Jennette is at war with her Nickelodeon bosses and Ariana is fulltime busy with her singing carreer. Next to that the girls have no longer a friendly relationship. So Nickelodeon has no other choice, although they will regret that Sam & Cat comes to an end.

Also Nickelodian will regret it (S&C scored very good), but no choice because too much has happened. Jennette was totally out of control with the nude pics, the accusations of lesser pay, unfair treatment by her Nick-bosses, her no-show at the KCA and the twitter by which she publicly ended all contacts with Ariana. Ariana kept quiet, only refuted the unequal pay issue. Ariana will not regret it too much. Her image as naiev Cat Valentine made it difficult for her to present herself as a serious singer and since she is very succesful she has anyhow hardly time left… Read more »

Me and my sister love Sam and cat. It is the only show that we watch on Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon is going to lose two more viewers if they cancel Sam and cat.

This doesn’t surprise me. I liked iCarly and I LOVED Victorious, but Sam and Cat was just nowhere as good as either of those shows. I was especially disappointed in the intense super dumbing-down of Cat Valentine from Victorious’ first season. She was never this stupid. And the episodes were a little ridiculous. I love Ariana Grande and I’m sorry to say it, but I did not like Sam and Cat :/
