According to Variety, Nickelodeon is considering reviving some of the kid shows from the cable channel’s past.
Russell Hicks, the president of content and development at Nickelodeon, says that shows like Rugrats, Hey Arnold! You Can’t Do That on Television, and even more recent series like Victorious could be revived as new series, movies, or specials.
“We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way,” Hicks said. He also noted, “We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones they’ve told us multiple times they want to have brought back.”
Hicks declined to specify which series are under consideration but the article notes that these revivals would not likely constitute the bulk of the network’s development efforts.
What do you think? Would you like to see some of the older Nickelodeon shows revived in some way? Which would you choose?
I loved when they had game shows like Double Dare, GUTS, Global GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple and and that game show where you went into the video games and you to physically interact to win!
Jimmy neutron should be brought back.
The only thing about reviving old cartoons is the fact that they were all animated in the 90’s which means they were done in that style of animation. The quality has only gotten better since then which takes away from the nostalgic feel they all had which is also why the shows went down hill towards the end of the series. If the shows were all re-animated with today’s style of animation they wouldn’t be the same. So I say no to bringing them back as new shows. Just play the reruns we all love so much.
Maybe, Nickelodeon and Saban Brands should reconsider about signing a new contract to make two more Power Rangers series based on ToQger and Ninninger.
I grew up watching Nickelodeon in the 80’s and 90’s. I’d love to see Count Duckula, Wild Thornberry’s, Double Dare, The World of David the Gnome, Hidden Temple, Salute Your Shorts, Are you afraid of the dark, Finders Keepers, Doug, and Rugrats. I also agree with most of the shows written above. I would love Nickelodeon to make some new shows and get rid of the 24 hours of Sponge Bob.
Invader Zim, Doug, Pete & Pete, Clarissa Explains It All, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Animorphs, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Martin Mystery, H2O: Just Add Water (Nick version), CatDog, Making Fiends, The Wild Thornberries, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, All Grown Up, Rocket Power, Drake & Josh, Chalkzone, Danny Phantom, Lucky Fred, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Edgar and Ellen, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius, Avatar: The Last Airbender, El Tigre, The Adventures of Manny Rivera, The Penguins of Madagascar and House of Anubis are the ones that need to come back, iCarly, Victorious, Sam &… Read more »
My daughter and I would both absolutely LOVE to see Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius come back on. As well as Drake & Josh (and YES, I know you know it has Miranda Cosgrove, Carly in it), Rocket Power, Rugrats, Grown Up, Wild Thornberries, Hey Arnold, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Every Witch Way, Big Time Rush, Open Heart, Make It Pop, True Jackson VP, Haunted Hathaways, Ned’s Declassified, and Zoey 101.
Yes, please. I definitely want the return of Hey Arnold and Rugrats. But what about All Grown Up! and The Wild Thornberrys? Shouldn’t they return as well? What I want to see is Nickelodeon reviving Finders Keepers, Figure It Out, BrianSurge, Robot Wars, Double Dare, Guts, My Family’s Got Guts, You’re On!, Get the Picture, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Make the Grade, Nick Arcade, Scaredy Camp, Think Fast!, Webheads, What Would You Do?, Wild & Crazy Kids and Fun House. Or maybe Nickelodeon should set up a new channel for children’s game shows. They should call it Nickelodeon Game… Read more »
What about bringing College Mad House and Doug back?
I think that would be awesome. I even talked to my daughter about it and she’d love to see them try to do something with some of the old shows and the new like Victorious and ICarly (which she loved both). If they can do half as good as they’ve done ( umm elsewhere) with “Boy Meets World”/”Girl Meets World” then they should be heading in the right direction. That one, in our opinion anyway, is a huge success. We sure enjoy it’s good, family-oriented wholesome entertainment. We think that’s the best part of it, that it’s a great throw… Read more »
iCarly isn’t a possibility of being revived, and it didn’t get cancelled, it just ended, it already had everything it needed and it had a good series finale, it already had a spinoff, Sam & Cat, but it got cancelled because the characters were fighting backstage since the photos leaked, and that show doesn’t deserve a revival because it had no plot or entertaining value, it was just two girls babysitting annoying little kids, and there were some fat ladies and just remember the last episode, which involved Cat attacking a guy in the head, thinking his hair was a… Read more »
I completely agree with the Rugrats and Hey Arnold needing to be revived. Even Rugrats: All Grown Up. But, I completely disagree with you about your comments about iCarly and Victorious, I’m not going to say I agree with you about Sam & Cat, I watched it, didn’t like every episode, that’s absolutely a given and I wouldn’t want it revived but, I definitely would NOT mind seeing iCarly and Victorious revived. Now, I’m not asking you to agree with me, I really don’t care one way or another, I’m just saying we can agree to disagree if that’s the… Read more »
