After a 12 year hiatus, Samurai Jack is back. Original creator and executive producer Genndy Tartakovsky is reviving the Samurai Jack TV show on Adult Swim in 2016. The epic story of Samurai Jack continues with a new season of half-hour episodes. Adult Swim renewed Samurai Jack in early December and included the animated series in today’s announcement of its programming slate. When the premiere date is announced, we will let you know.
Samurai Jack features a samurai from Feudal Japan who finds himself in the future, in which Earth is ruled by the demon Aku, a shape-shifter. During its first run of 52, Samurai Jack won four Primetime Emmy Awards. No casting has been announced. In the original series, Phil LaMarr voiced Samurai Jack. Aku was voiced by voice artist, Mako, who died in July, 2006.
