FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

What do you think? Did you watch Shots Fired? Would you have watched a second season of this FOX series?
I think they have a good show in Shots Fired dealing with to days issues that going on across the country let there be a second season and the ratings will be up thank you
My husband and I love this show. Please don’t cancel. This show showed what is truly going on in the real world today. It’s about time a network took on this issue.
Please Save shots fired . I was captivated every second and it had my emotions on a roller coaster . It dealt with a side of cases that aren’t seen often . The building relationships are enough to continue on.
I loved the show there needs to be a second season to much cliffhangers left in first season
Please let Shots fired return we want to know what happens to the town & the officers & ect don’t leave us hanging wanba know if she got her daughter back and the see how her relationship ended
It is unbelievable that a television shot that deals with real life situations is possibly not returning. My personal opinion is that hit too close to home. If it is cancelled on Fox then I hope that another network will pick it up. I am shaking my head how a show with great story lines can be cancelled. What a sad decision as this could have continued to be a great discussion show. Racism is REAL in this country and shameful that the ball has been dropped
I can’t believe Fox decided to cancel a show which deals with real issues and with great storylines. This was a show that had substance something that most shows lack now a days. Most shows are just shallow and empty. I hope Fox changes it’s mind. Love Shots Fired!!!!
That’s the problem today, we never deal with real issues. The show was awesome. Storylines were great and real. My husband and I recorded every episode.
I watched the entire season of Shots Fired and loved it. The acting was great and the story line was real and dramatic. This show depicts what is going on in the world and of course this show wouldn’t survive because people prefer watching a show like Empire that isn’t true to life instead of a show like Shots Fired that deals with real and current issues. Thank you for the show, cast and story.
There is needs to be a second season. Y’all have to figure it out or find a new network to pick up the show.
I think shots fired is an excellent program. It is very current with the issues it addresses. I am very disappointed that it has been canceled.
This was a great show & im sad there won’t be a second season.
I loved it .cant just leave me hanging
Loved the show with strong intelligent leads. Writing was great, with wonderful acting. Was happy to see every episode, sorry to see it go. I am a white female 70 years old, so you don’t have to be young to enjoy a really GOOD show. Will be watching for new show from the writing team.
Yes, we watched it weekly and we were looking forward to the second season. Unlike so many other TV series it was actually dealing with real life issues and concerns. I believe that it was actually giving families something to watch together. What a loss..
I need a 2nd Season!!! Love this show!
