The original To Tell the Truth debuted in 1956 and ran for 12 seasons. The 1969 syndicated version ran for nine seasons but later versions have ended up running just a season or two. How will this new edition on ABC perform in the ratings? Will it be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
Hosted by Anthony Anderson, this version of To Tell the Truth features a panel of four celebrities who are presented with three people who all claim to be the same person with the same incredible talent, job, or achievement. One is sworn to tell the truth while the others are not. Panelists this season include Betty White, NeNe Leakes, Jalen Rose, Tracee Ellis Ross, Iliza Shlesinger, Mike Tyson, Brooks Wheelan, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Daymond Johns. Anderson’s mother, Doris, keeps score.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
