Though ABC didn’t have much luck with their Eastwick drama, the network is trying another kind of supernatural series, The Gates, for the summer months. Will this one make it to season two?
The Gates revolves around a big city cop who moves his family to a quiet gated community where many of the residents aren’t exactly what they appear to be. The ensemble cast includes Rhona Mitra, Colton Haynes, Frank Grillo, Janina Gavankar, Chandra West, Luke Mably, James Preston, Marisol Nichols, Skyler Samuels, Travis Caldwell, Victoria Platt, and Justin Miles.
The series debuted on Sunday, June 20th, to an unimpressive 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 4.78 million viewers. Considering all of the network’s promotion, this was a disappointing start. The premiere ranked first in the demo and second in total viewers for the timeslot.

In week two, viewership for The Gates dropped by about 30%. The demo fell to a 1.1 rating and total viewership came down to only 3.24 million. That put the show in second place in the demo and in third place for viewers.
Though ABC has lower expectations for this summer show, the ratings do not bode well for the show’s future on the network. Unless more people start watching, it’s hard to imagine that we’ll be seeing season two.
For now, let’s hope they show all 13 episodes of season one. The Gates is expected to run until September 19th but, with ratings like these, it’s not hard to imagine the network replacing them with something else.

Please bring the gates back, i started watching the gates on Netflix and I’m hooked, i was left at such a big cliff hanger and i want more, this to me is way better than twilight!!! PLEASE bring it back.
Best Show Ever! Binged watched it on Netflix! How are suppose to find out what happens!?? They didn’t end it??
That was a sucky way of ending season one you guys need to make a season two now because there are people that really want to see this show so make season two
I love the show is like a soap opera with all the super natural drama. I watch the season on nexflix in one day. I could stop watching it.
It’s a shame this is such an amazing TV series you know unfortunately all TV series that are mystical or not the norm always seem to end up getting cancelled which kind of sucks because this brings a community of Misfits from the unnatural order of the human beings into one community and I think this could have gone very far you know introducing one normal family from Chicago into the gates full of abnormal people it was amazing I just wish it would have continued just like law and order or NCIS or the median or charmed this would’ve… Read more »
the show was great. a little like desprite house wives instead of vampire diaries. i think now after the reason the gates was built is out to whom needed to know on the show i think 2nd season would have been great.
I know the show is cancelled but I really love the show and would nothing more in the world for them to bring the show back with the cast it began with its nothing without them I love them all especially cause some of them play on teen wolf which is another show I love please bring the show back please

Absolutely fell in love with tis show. Can’t believe its been cancelled. It still is the.best thing that was on tv. I hope netflix tries to bring a season 2 in. That would be awesome.
