NBC hasn’t had much luck airing original dramas over the summer months. Will The Night Shift be a different ratings story? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned to find out.
The Night Shift revolves around the quirky but devoted staffmembers of San Antonio Memorial Hospital who work from dusk til dawn. The cast of the medical drama includes Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Daniella Alonso, Robert Bailey Jr., Jeananne Goossen. J.R. Lemon, and Freddy Rodriguez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
7/1 update: NBC has renewed Night Shift for a second season.
Final season averages: 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.59 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Night Shift TV show? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Okay show but nothing special. Won’t make it.
Garbage. Had to delete it from the DVR after the second episode. Will not watch another. There was a Canadian Army hospital show on one summer that was way better and it got cancelled. This one is bad.
Terrible….bad acting….bad writing. …dr’s don’t have parties on rooftops and dr’s don’t throw punches in the halls. Goofy… this show will def not see another season.
Why wait, D.N. R., pull the pull now, stat!!!
watched the first two episodes and that was more than enough. I hope it stays on for those who do enjoy it it, but I am out of here.
It just plain stinks.
I like the show
I have to agree with some of the posters…………….not a good show……..I had to turn it off after about 20 minutes……….I couldn’t take the acting, stereotypes or characters………..nothing original…………..sorry this isn’t my kind of show………..I would bet it gets canceled………………
One of the worst shows I have seen lately. This is going straight to the bin, no doubt. Truly awful on so many levels.
Obviously, people before me weren’t watching the same show I was. The Night Shift is original, drama, funny, and very likable. I believe as an avid TV watcher that he can withstand the negative comments and come out on top. Keep it, it finally gives us another medical drama/comedy to watch, for those of us who know what people like to watch. Don’t listen to the bullies and keep the trauma and drama with a splash of comedy served every week.
there is nothing original about this show. all these characters have been done a hundred time before. the stereotypes give it away. It’s MASH meets ER/st elsewhere meets Chicago Hope only with worse acting and writing.
People aren’t bullies simply for stating their negative opinion of a TV show. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion and most people are stating valid criticisms. If you love it, great, luckily for you it seems to be doing great in the ratings. In my opinion it’s not a good or original show. It’s fraught with lazy writing, stereotypes, and clichés, as well as highly improbable situations and inaccuracies regarding how things work in a hospital. I was looking forward to it and have been disappointed.
I love the show. The story shows heart for human life with giving care to patients whether if they have insurance or not.
The guys on the show are fine fine and Fine. (Like)
There are scenes where they are on break enjoying life . Mostly clean.
I look forward to the next episode.
I think it has great potential to last.
there is no way this show keeps up that level of ER action. within in one or two episodes it will be more drama than trauma. and the characters aren’t that interesting, so Code Red, this corpse is DOA.
i really love this show so far, and i fell in love with the characters, its got a chance, renew it people, why not?
Who writes this show? A kindergarten kid? Nothing but stereotypes (veteran with problems that this show can’t solve) female doctors who have to fight the world probably every week, and to top it off fights with the insurance man almost in the surgery room! I checked out the 1st episode but no more!!
Please stop the bleeding, this show, is way too much macho for my liking…this supposed combat doctor saves the world and he thinks he’s all that and an IV drip. He’s too cool for school, get the hook, dismiss this show, waste of time.
I enjoyed the pilot and think that it has a lot of potential.
