Last month, we reported HBO had cancelled their new series Vinyl after one season. Recently, castmember Bo Dietl spoke about the cancellation to Page Six.
The drama starred Bobby Cannavale as Richie Finestra, a music producer working in 1970s New York City. The cast also included Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, P.J. Byrne, J.C. MacKenzie, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, and Juno Temple.
Dietl told Page Six that Cannavale was “down” about the cancellation and pointed to the number of producers and firing of showrunner Terence Winter as possible reasons for the show’s failure:
Bobby’s not in a great mood. He’s kinda down about it, like we all are. … There were too many cooks in the f - - king kitchen. … After they shot me in the head, they shot the whole show in the head.”

They should of never cancelled this show it had great characters and the shows plot was continually evolving a really bad decision but one they could correct if they would just renew it !
Absolutely not!! My husband and I looked forward to seeing this show…..every week. It’s been months now and I am still in disbelief that Vinyl was REALLY cancelled. We had all of our friends tuning in to watch it as well. What a let down! Makes me wish I still had the right connectionside in the business. Does anyone even know the real reason it was cancelled? I loved that show. Both my husband and I did and there aren’t too many shows we both like. I am so bummed. I was just looking to see when the new season started and now I am depressed. Great music. Great clothes. Great actors. Great story!
Yeah, this is BS. HBO, while they produce some good shows they have a proven history of cutting excellent shows off at the knees for little reason. Deadwood is a great example. Just cancelled it with no plan to bring the story to a close….
I think this was a gritty drama that MAYBE just wasn’t well enough known BECAUSE it was on HBO…. Dunno, but Netflix if you’re watching you should def pick this one up and run with it.

No!!! That show was great how dare they. It was the best show on TV. The writers and producers need to rethink their decision, so many fans disappointed.
I’m so sorry Vinyl was my show. I watched and re-lived my teen years. live fast and die hard. This show captured all the details of the time. I hope they get their **** together ,for the viewers their fans. You suck if you leave us hanging. Not cool man.
No! Should not have been canceled. I recorded it to binge watch. I would love to see more of this.
WHAT THE F#$&!?? This was one of the BEST SHOWS ON TV.!! Showtime of netflix needs to pick this up
