In 2016, after more than a decade off the air, The X-Files TV show returned to FOX as a limited event series. Although the ratings landscape had changed drastically during this show’s off years, and the new installment only had six episodes, it topped all the other FOX TV series in the Nielsens. Can the 10 episodes of the 11th season meet or beat those figures? If Chris Carter and the cast are interested in making more episodes, will The X-Files be cancelled or renewed for season 12? Season 11 of The X-Files on FOX picks up immediately after the events of the season 10 finale cliffhanger. The sci-fi mystery thriller stars David Duchovny as FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully. Mulder and Scully investigate unexplained or “X-Files” cases — which have answers involving paranormal phenomena. Returning in season 11 are Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, Lauren Ambrose, Robbie Amell, Veronica Cartwright, Chris Owens, and Dean Haglund. They are joined by newcomers including Barbara Hershey and Haley Joel Osment.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. I recorded it because it played when I have a standing obligation. I am over 60 years old, so I don’t fit in the network’s demography target. And I’m in Canada, so I guess my opinion isn’t relevant. But if someone, a decision maker at FOX, was to happen to read this, I sure would like the X-Files to go on for many seasons still. Sure I’d prefer to see both Mulder and Scully, but we’ve seen Scully without Mulder and the show survived very well, So Even if Scully isn’t there but Mulder is, the show will do well… Read more »

They should include viewers from Europe and other parts of the world, everybody knows this show not like todays SJW cr@p from other networks.

I have to believe (sic) there were more viewers than the ratings pretend there weren’t, it’s another conspiracy by Arbitron or whomever wasn’t counting correctly. I agree, the time slot, was bad, for first show of prime time evening on Wednesday, because it was so early, made me miss 4 episodes, because just too darn early, I actually tuned in later and saw 9-1-1, wtf. If X-files weren’t doing well, then how come the 9-1-1 got great ratings afterwards? Time slot and having X-Files on beforehand, helped it immensely, they should have switched the two shows a couple times throughout… Read more »
