Xtreme Waterparks: Season Five Starts This Weekend on Travel Channel

by Jessica Pena, June 23, 2016

Xtreme Waterparks; Travel Channel TV shows

Break out your best bathing suit. This week, Travel Channel announced season five of Xtreme Waterparks premieres this weekend.

The docu-series explores some of America’s craziest water rides and theme parks.

Season five premieres this Sunday, June 26th, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Read more details below:

NEW YORK (June 21, 2016) – From trapdoor body slides to dueling water coasters, Travel Channel has announced seven high-octane waterslides for adrenaline junkies to ride in the United States this summer. In its new season of “Xtreme Waterparks,” premiering Sunday, June 26 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, the network reveals some of the most insane water rides in the United States and around the globe. Waterslides in the United States that make the grade on the Travel Channel list include:

“BEACH BLASTERS” – HAWAIIAN FALLS WATERPARK, TEXAS

Hawaiian Falls Waterpark in Roanoke, Texas, is home to “Beach Blasters” – the world’s only side-by-side dueling raft slide where guests can race each other to the finish line. With a 60-foot drop from the top, “Beach Blasters” launches two separate, two-person rafts simultaneously, in opposite directions, into dark, enclosed tubes that are then propelled into a massive open-air “bowl.” Each raft swirls around before funneling down into its own porthole and splashing into its respective finish lane.

“BREAKER’S PLUNGE” – SOAK CITY WATERPARK, MINNESOTA

Located just 20 minutes outside Minneapolis, Soak City Waterpark in Shakopee, Minn., hosts America’s tallest twin body slide, “Breaker’s Plunge.” Guests looking for an adrenaline rush won’t be able to resist the dual 90-foot, high-speed freefall slides that plunge riders down the 65-degree angle drop at 40 miles per hour to reach the bottom in just under seven seconds.

“DIVE BOMBER” – SIX FLAGS WHITE WATER, GEORGIA

“Dive Bomber” at Six Flags White Water in Marietta, Ga., is one of the tallest body slides in America. A launch capsule at the top holds riders until a trapdoor suddenly opens to a 10-story, heart-stopping plunge. Plummeting at 40 miles per hour, riders can feel the adrenaline rush as the slide sends them on a 90-degree, 100-foot descent.

“MAXIMUM VELOCITY” – WET ‘N’ WILD, ARIZONA

At 830 feet long, “Maximum Velocity” at Wet ‘n’ Wild in Phoenix is the fourth longest water coaster in the world, and the first and only water slide of its kind. On this side-by-side dueling water coaster, thrill seekers race in two-person rafts down two side-by-side slide tracks. Plummeting through six steep drops with six peaks and six tunnels, the slide twists and turns riders through two 180-degree turns while jets hurl tubes uphill at 33 miles per hour.

“THE RATTLER” – WET ‘N’ WILD, NEVADA

“The Rattler” at Wet ‘n’ Wild in Las Vegas is the first slide of its kind built in North America. The slide takes fearless riders on four-person rafts through 360 feet of twists, turns and two distinct “rattles” that shake the rafts back and forth, creating some serious wall time, before reaching the splash pool below.

“ROYAL FLUSH” – BSR CABLE PARK, TEXAS

BSR Cable Park is a 40-acre state park in Waco, Texas, featuring the “Royal Flush” – a trio of 120-foot long slides of varying heights. Riders shoot down the steep grades before being launched into the air, allowing them ample time for backflips or other aerial maneuvers before they come splashing down into the blue lake below. The tallest slide is six stories high, with an eight-foot, nearly vertical ramp at the top. It has the ability to launch riders up to 30 feet into the air.

“SCORPION’S TAIL” – NOAH’S ARK, WISCONSIN

America’s largest waterpark, Noah’s Ark in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., features “Scorpion’s Tail” -the country’s first nearly vertical waterslide loop. “Scorpion’s Tail” sits 10 stories high and drops riders more than 50 feet per second. A trapdoor from the tower releases riders down the 400-foot slide, then twists and turns guests around a loop with 3Gs of force. And for those riders who don’t fully make it around the loop (it happens a few times a day!), a special built-in escape hatch can be used to help them reach the finish line.

“Xtreme Waterparks” is part of “Dive Into Summer,” Travel Channel’s summer Sunday programming lineup that showcases the world’s ultimate water paradises with a touch of fun, sun, thrills and adventure.”

What do you think? Do you watch Xtreme Waterparks? Will you watch the new season? What’s your favorite waterpark?
