True Detective: Season One Ratings

true detective ratingsStarring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, HBO’s True Detective show is an anthology series that will supposedly feature new casts and storylines each season. Will it last long enough to see a second season or will it be cancelled instead? We’ll have to wait and see.

The first season of True Detective begins in 2012 and follows two former Louisiana State Police Detectives as they are brought in to revisit a homicide case they worked on in 1995. The drama’s cast includes McConaughey, Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Dunn, Michael Potts, and Tory Kittles.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

Just finished watching the season 1 finale. This is the best show I’ve seen in years…maybe ever. If you are able to read these words, and haven’t watched the show…do it IMMEDIATELY. If you decide not to/didn’t care for it….then you are an incurable pinhead who needs more help than we can give you here.

Great show and great acting. McConaughey is awesome! The story is dark and tough to take regarding children, but that makes it more compelling for them to crack the case and defeat ultimate evil. The writers and the great acting have my attention. If the show does continue after cracking the case, will they both continue to work together on other cases.??????

My understanding is that neither McConaghey nor Harrelson will be back for a second season…I believe that was how it was always intended. Even so, I’ve become a huge fan of both actors due to this series and wish they were continuing on.

I think the show started well, slowly unwinding what seemed to be a good story. But as further episodes rolled out, we seemed to get less plot and more personal troubles. Episode 5 actually spent more time with the plot, but when it was over, I felt I had seen enough. What they were foreshadowing for the future was whether the one detective, Chris, would have his scalp rolled down over his face by that East Texas motorcycle gang, but leaving room so he could see them cut off his penis and testicles and stuff them in his mouth. No thanks. I passed on episode 6.

Excellent show…the acting by McConaghey and Harrelson is phenomenal. If you aren’t watching it, you should be.

1) This is the best show on TV right now. By such a far and away margin to even mention anything else as competition would have to be a sarcastic joke. If you have HBO and are not watching this, cancel your subscription.

2) “Will it last long enough to see a second season or will it be cancelled instead?” You’re gonna look a little silly saying this. A tiny bit of searching will reveal that HBO already signed on for a second season weeks ago.
