Patrick Wilson and company won’t be back for a second season. CBS has cancelled A Gifted Man, their low-rated Friday night drama.
Revolving around a talented but arrogant doctor who’s visited by the ghost of his ex-wife, A Gifted Man ran for 16 episodes on CBS. The show features the talents of Wilson, Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The TV series got off to an unimpressive start back in September, registering a 1.4 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. In week two, the demo fell 14%, to a 1.2 rating.

The numbers for later episodes fluctuated up and down — even occasionally outperforming the series premiere — but were never very strong. For the show’s final few episodes, CBS moved it into the 9pm timeslot but it didn’t do as well as previous timeslot occupant CSI: NY.
The last episode of the season (and series aired) on March 2nd and was Gifted Man’s best overall series performance, registering a 1.5 in the demo with 9.70 million total viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relaive success of shows on the network, A Gifted Man had a “D-” rating right from the start.
In Gifted Man’s former timeslot, CBS tried airing episodes of reality series Undercover Boss. It performed significantly better and cost much less to produce. Gifted Man’s fate had been sealed.

I was waiting for the 2nd season to start, and was very upset to find out that they cancelled it. With 9 million viewers, they may need to re-think their decision.
I think that this series was great. Very interesting and action packed stories. All the actors gave excellent performances. My husband and I were really looking forward to more seasons. Maybe this series did not get enough publicity but certainly the rating given was not deserved.
I am so fed up watching a new series and then they cancel it. Why even watch these shows at all what’s the point. This will be the fifth show of new tv series and that gets cancelled. I think it’s time to drop watching television dump the tv and go back to walks and reading books. At least you know the whole beginning and end to the book. I loved this show!! I watched it on Netflix and it stole my heart. The acting was amazing and there was enough drama to keep me interested without it being rediculous and negative like so many shows on today. The characters are all easy to love, and the acting is spot on. I’m so sad that there won’t be a season two.
I loved the show. I love supernatural ghost stories. I really enjoyed it and want to see it continue!!
I agree with every post!! This is a great show with wonderful storylines and amazing acting! If Netflix could bring this back, it would make many viewers so happy Netflix would be thrilled with the amount of viewers they will get. DO IT!!!
Netflix needs to pick this series up and continue it! I fear the actors/actresses might change though given the huge time gap between seasons. Hopefully keep the main actors. I am so bummed there is not another season. oh well.good for now,as I need to get my homework done:-)
I agree Netflix needs to pick it up. The first 3 episodes were bad and I almost stoped watching but I love the supernatural so I continued and it became very exciting. There needs to be more character development of the Dr. How he is changing because of the goat. love to see a season 2 on Netflix!

I just started binge watching on Netflix, really going to miss this great series! They could’ve just moved to a dinferential nights to get better ratings! This was a smart, intelligent series with great acting. Prob the reason it didn’t last.
AGM is one of the best TV dramas I have seen in years. My husband and I don’t watch much current TV but love to find series on Netflix so we can watch without commercials. We both wish there were a lot more seasons of AGM! It’s a great storyline!
I lost faith in tv ratings a long time ago after Gary Unmarried got cancelled. A Gifted Man is one of those rare real Patrick Jane class shows. I’ve seen all 16 episodes twice already and i think i’ll be going for a third round soon. I would definitely crowdfund this show if that option were ever made available
I just happened to see this show 4 years ago when it came out and after the first episode I absolutely loved it. I loved the twist of his wife coming back, I thought that made it interesting and different but not weird and cheesy. I loved how they kept it clean and professional on the medical side compared to shows like greys anatomy. I couldn’t find it on tv after seeing the first episode I recorded and I was really bummed. I loved it, Patrick is great in it. He reminds me of a young Paul Newman. Sorry to hear there will be no 2nd season. It’s hard to believe because there is such garbage on TV these days, ie reality TV Yuk. This was a truly refreshing show.
