Patrick Wilson and company won’t be back for a second season. CBS has cancelled A Gifted Man, their low-rated Friday night drama.
Revolving around a talented but arrogant doctor who’s visited by the ghost of his ex-wife, A Gifted Man ran for 16 episodes on CBS. The show features the talents of Wilson, Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The TV series got off to an unimpressive start back in September, registering a 1.4 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. In week two, the demo fell 14%, to a 1.2 rating.

The numbers for later episodes fluctuated up and down — even occasionally outperforming the series premiere — but were never very strong. For the show’s final few episodes, CBS moved it into the 9pm timeslot but it didn’t do as well as previous timeslot occupant CSI: NY.
The last episode of the season (and series aired) on March 2nd and was Gifted Man’s best overall series performance, registering a 1.5 in the demo with 9.70 million total viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relaive success of shows on the network, A Gifted Man had a “D-” rating right from the start.
In Gifted Man’s former timeslot, CBS tried airing episodes of reality series Undercover Boss. It performed significantly better and cost much less to produce. Gifted Man’s fate had been sealed.

I’m only finding out about “gifted man”, due to becoming a recent Amazon Firestick member. I absolutely love this series, Very annoyed to find out it was cancelled only after Season 1. It wasn’t the show that it didn’t do well, it was because it wasn’t advertised well.
You got that right!! Can’t understand why networks have to blame the show & the actors for poor ratings on a poorly advertised series. Its not like CSI:NY was poorly advertised, can’t go a day without seeing or hearing an advertisement for that series on radio or other TV networks.
I loved every episode. All the actors were wonderful. Sad it was cancelled. It was funny, emotional, spiritual and truly life affirming in so many ways. We need more shows that offer hope and connection as this one did.

I REALLY LIKED THE SHOW. Too bad they canceled it. The supernatural aspect was good, because it challenged science and invoked faith and love. I’m old-fashioned, so I was a bit upset that Kate was married. I wanted to see how they were going to spin that. But I guess we won’t know…

It was simply a fantastic show and I’m so sorry to see it go. There are so many pathetic reality shows – cheaper to make – with little substance. This show was fun, quirky, and made you think. I’m binge watching on a Amazon and I sadly have a few episodes left. Who doesn’t know a competitive arrogant guy that needs to learn life lessons the hard way? I love it!

I didn’t get to the end yet, but after finding out that it was cancelled, how upsetting this is!! Nothing good on TV anymore, and they pulled this one?? jerks.
Did the last episode have and actual ending or was it left on a cliffhanger . I would like to start seeing it but not if they leave you hanging
Why this incredible, deeply thought-provoking television series shows low ratings is beyond me. One of the best series on TV, IMO, it delved into every aspect of the human condition, integrating rich vs poor, spirituality vs reality, etc. Guess I will have to content myself with watching the season over and over. So sad…
I just found this drama on Amazon Prime and I was immediately drawn into it. I was looking for additional seasons only to find out that the show was cancelled. I liked it because it had the drama of Grey’s anatomy but without all the sex scenes. I enjoyed it because it is something that I could watch with my family without having to worry about all the sex scenes. It’s suxh a shame because we need more clean good shows like this. I’m sad that I didn’t know about this show sooner. I would have definitely tuned in.
I just found this great series on Amazon. So disappointed it has been cancelled. What a shame…I loved it. All the actors were wonderful. The story line was completely believable. Cancelling t his great show is just pitiful. There’s so much garbage out there now I don’t even want to watch TV. So sorry it took me so long to find it…
