Between the competition from other channels and start time delays due to sports programming overruns, CBS has some real challenges on Sunday nights, particularly in the 10pm timeslot. Both The Mentalist (ended) and CSI (possibly cancelled) struggled this season. How’s newcomer Battle Creek been doing? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled instead?
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The series got off to a poor start with a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. That was a lower demo number than either CSI or Mentalist had hit this season. The viewership was pretty bad for a CBS show too.
In week two, the ratings for Battle Creek fell to a 0.83 in the demo with 6.93 million, a decline of 17% and 13% respectively. The numbers have gotten even worse in subsequent weeks — falling as low as a 0.7 rating and 5.58 million viewers.
Based on the ratings, there doesn’t seem to be any reason for CBS to renew Battle Creek for a second season. The numbers are just too low.
On the positive side, there are four episodes left after tonight’s airing. It looks like the network will let them air with the finale currently set for May 24th.

Suuuuuuuuper bummed this show was only 1 season! Man, I loved the story, characters, and casting. It’s one of the fewer shows out there that’s actually on the clean side AND has an interesting story that has room to grow. Very disappointed it got canceled and would be incredibly happy if Netflix or someone else picked it back up!!!

Just finished watching Battle Creek on Netflix. Loved it!! It’s funny, has a great cast and cannot be more disappointed to find out its been cancelled. I’m sure they can fill the time slot with another stupid reality show!
I loved Battle Creek the time slot Didn’t matter because I recorded it and watched over and over.
Battle creek should definitely be renewed for season 2 it was really funny with great characters and the storyline was great.i would love to see what happens with milt, need to bring a second season out
Don’t cancel Battle Creek. It’s nice to see a light-hearted TV show. It’s funny, great characters, good storyline and entertaining.
I actually like the show…watching it on Net flicks now, would like to see it come back for a second season. Hard to find a ‘good, clean, show’.

It sure seems that every show that has some morals or the characters do and a good story line, gets cancelled. The violence wasn’t overkill and the story line made you want to keep watching unlike the other crap out there that you try to watch and you just can’t make it through an episode bc it is so bad. The bad shows seem to continue. Please bring it back

Just started watching on Netflix February 2016 and thought Battle Creek was GREAT!!!!! Clever, original story lines. Good tension between the characters and use of humor. So disappointed there isn’t another season. This is begging for someone to pick it back up 🙂
