Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Please air season 4. I’m hooked and need to see what happens. Come on. Don’t leave us fans hanging!!!
I would like to see a 4th season
Please return this series. Make the characters a bit smarter when it come to love and comittment. Loved the show!
I loved it and am disappointed that it will not be returning. I will really miss it. I looked forward to seeing it each week.
I’m do sorry it will not be returning! I absolutely loved it!
Somehow missed this was cancelled and I’ve been awaiting its return. I searched today to see when that would be and found it had been cancelled. So disappointed. I really liked this series. Perhaps a movie comeback every couple of years.
My fiancee and I enjoyed watching Cedar Cove via Netflix. If The Hallmark Channel will not re-new the series for a fourth season (or longer), then why not let Netflix take over production?
I need closure!!! Even a 90 minute reunion would do the trick. Who does Olivia end up with?!?
I agree! We all need some type of closure on this! Since the TV series strayed from the books it’s not even like you can read the book to see what happens! And I have read all the books in the series and it was way different! Nevertheless, I still loved watching this series. The scenery was beautiful! The acting was good and the story line was entertaining. And it was truly a family style show to watch… Yes, we need a movie to end this for us!!!!
I would love to see the show renewed at a future date. It was well worth my time and interest. I am now reading the books, and, while not the same, it is satisfying my need-to-know.
I loved the show and am very disappointed in the fact that it was cancelled. please bring it back if only to give us fans some closure. It is really bad to leave the fans hanging with so many unanswered questions!
I recently found Cedar Cove on Netflix and fell in love with it! I was VERY disappointed when found out it was cancellled and I can’t find out what happens? Why can’t they put it on Netflix? Also can anyone tell me what book to get so I may find out and read rest??
I loved Cedar Cove. I want to find out how it ends. I can’t stand to be left hanging!! What Cedar Cove books start series 4? Can I order it? Can it be shown on Netflix?
I was so unhappy that this series had no real ending; left many questions unanswered. It would be so nice if there was a 2 hour Hallmark movie with a true ending to Cedar Cove.
I really like the show and would have loved to see how it ended! If you knew it was not going to have a season four it should have difinetly ended differently.
I love the Cedar Cove series and am extremely disappointed it was cancelled. We need more TV shows like this to remind us there’s still good wholesomeness in the world. TV today is filled with “garbage” and that’s the only word I can find to describe it. There is nothing original about TV today. Reality TV is an insult to our intelligence and the rest is murder, gore, evil and sleaze. It’s unfortunate Hallmark did not think the show worthy.
