What’s going on with Chicago Justice and Trial & Error? Recently, NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt discussed the renewal chances for the two freshman TV series, Variety reports. 5/21 update: Trial & Error is renewed for season two on NBC. Details here.
Both series have a decent shot at being renewed for a second season. Chicago Justice is the latest installment in Dick Wolf’s Chicago franchise, which has been a huge success for NBC for the past few years. And while the show’s first season has only brought in moderate ratings, its connection to the other Chicago series will surely give it a boost.
Recently, Greenblatt told reporters that NBC is still deciding on the fate of Chicago Justice until the rest of the schedule is hammered out, saying “We’re still putting the pieces in place for post-Olympics and summer.”
Meanwhile, the future of Trial & Error also remains unclear. The comedy, which stars Nicholas D’Agosto as a new lawyer, received low ratings during it first season but did garner some critical attention.
Although, despite poor ratings, Greenblatt suggested there may be a second season, saying “I hope we can have some good news about that in the near future.” Apparently, negotiations with the show’s studio, Warner Bros. TV, are still ongoing.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Chicago Justice and/or Trial & Error? Do you hope they get a second season?
Chicago Justice has the right ingredients for a hit: crusading attorney; lovely, equally driven assistant; interesting stories; hook into the other Chicago franchises. But the writers haven’t given us enough of the main characters’ backstories (e.g., the squad in SVU) to get us emotionally invested in their lives, successes, failures, etc. I hope they get another season to work that mixture to get the balance that’ll make the show a hit.
I do like the show i don’t love it compared to the other shows i think where they went wrong with it was in casting as for backstory Dick Wolf started this format with law and order and he didn’t do much backstory for that show in the beginning (got to love reruns) so i don’t think the backstory is the problem it is the casting of a lot of the characters that fans are not wanting to watch
this is a great show. Why would NBC have too think about a renewal????
Ratings but it isn’t a good sign they renewed all the chicago one series except justice
Chicago Justice is the best of all the Chicago series. Keeping it on is a no brainer, NBC.
Keep Chicago Justice on NBC! Why do you even have to think about it? The 4 Chicago shows are all terrific but Chicago Justice is at the top of my list.
Chicago Justice is the ONLY “Chicago” series I watch — it’s very intelligent and has a very strong moral core which I like immensely. Please renew!
Please keep the Chicago Quad intact. It’s the very best programming on television.
Please renew Chicago Justice. Great show
Trial and Error is one of the few comedies I couldn’t wait to see every week. Please renew it!
From the U.K. I found Trial and Error by pure luck, loved it.
Please renew Chicago Justice
Please renew Chicago Justice. Its a great show so, please give it a chance!
Please renew Chicago justice it is a great show. It’s very interesting, great actors n storylines. It’s another one if the Chicago series is a must. Thanks
NBC can either renew the somewhat slow/boring CHICAGO JUSTICE or it can buy one of the many good leftover pilots from ABC & CBS. DOOMSDAY, LAS REINAS, UNIT ZERO, SALAMANDER, untitled Marc Cherry, untitled Paul Davies; MISSION CONTROL, PERFECT CITIZEN.
Trial and error’s ratings were better than great news
Please Bring back trial and error. It’s our favorite show. There has to be a way to make it work in the schedule.
I really enjoy Chicago Justice. I do think it started out slow but now I can’t wait to watch it every week! Give it a second season.
