canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Chuck: NBC Orders Additional Episodes for Season Three

by Trevor Kimball, October 29, 2009

Chuck TV showWhile some NBC viewers may still be reeling from the news that Trauma has been cancelled, there’s good news for another Monday night show, Chuck.

Chuck, which stars Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Sarah Lancaster, and Ryan McPartlin, was barely renewed last season because of soft ratings. But, in part because of a passionate fan campaign, NBC decided to bring it back. The fan victory was bittersweet though because the network said that they would bring it back for 13 episodes and wouldn’t start airing them for almost a year.

At the time, NBC had great confidence in their 2009-10 schedule. Now that the new shows have debuted and the network is in worse shape than ever, the execs are thinking more kindly about Chuck.

With NBC’s recent cancellation of Southland and now Trauma, the network is in need of some additional programming. As a result, they’ve upped their Chuck episode order by six, bring the season three total to 19.

NBC hasn’t officially announced Chuck’s return date but it’s expected that the network will bring the show back in January and then take a break for the Olympic games coverage.

What do you think? Do you think it’s better for Chuck to return in January or wait until March so the season can run uninterrupted?

I really want Chuck to return soon.
But if it will be preempted for the Olympics then it’s better to wait until March.

We are big fans of this wacky comedy on Mon. nights. Starts the week with a lot of laughs. We were hoping for start up in Nov., but Jan. 2010 is better than nothing. Everyone I have told to watch it have become instant fans. Hope the series stays slated for Jan/2010 and can’t wait to see all their crazy antics.

I got nothing against Chuck, cause I never watched it. What is everyone’s problem against Heroes? It is a damn good show and a unique one of its kind. Ok I will give you the the writing it is sub par, but at the rate you all are going it is gonna be canceled at a cliffhanger if you all had your way. Just give it a chance and don’t give up on it. Not everyone has to like shows like House and 24 which I don’t watch yet they are popular anyways. NBC does need to get its act… Read more »

Great news. Now maybe they’ll give KR a new look. Compared to the ratings of Trauma and Southland, KR was rockin. Is it just me or does it seem that these great execs, who are supposed to be all knowing and all seeing, can’t get anything right? Not limited to T.V. execs either.

Here in the UK we have to wait until the whole season has been shown out in the states-its torture.
I was over the moon when Chuck got a third season and cant wait to see it.

I LOVE CHUCK! As much as I love this show, I would rather it come back in March so we won’t be teased…..a few episodes and then a long break and then more…..I want a straight season. BUT, why can’t they bring it back earlier than January?!? Why not bring it back in November?

That’s great news. My wife and I watch a few shows each week, and “Chuck” is one of them. As for when it should begin… the sooner the better, but that’s a call for people smarter about these things than me!

Chuck was one of the few funny shows on TV that the kids could watch too. We need more family type shows. I have been looking for it this Fall and didn’t realize that it wasn’t coming back until Jan. I am looking forward to staying inside during the snow and cold and watching Chuck. Thanks NBC for bringing it back. Keep it for the next four years.

CHUCK Rules!!!!!!!!! So many shows suck this season. If that are not totally ridiculous, they have ‘jumped the shark’. Ghost Whisper had a five year jump and added a 5-year-old son; Numbers began cloning…..are you kidding me, and we are still stuck with Leno and his green car races. PLEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE give us Chuck back.

I’m a big fan of “Chuck” and I was so glad to read that NBC increased the order
of second season episodes to 19 total. Just start the new season right after
the Olympics have finished. Then fans of the show could enjoy watching it
without interruption. “Chuck” is one of the very few shows from 2007
that has lasted into a third season so I’m so excited to know that it will be
coming back on the air next spring! So very glad for Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski
and the rest of the “Chuck” cast.

I too am a big CHUCK fan. Thankfully I have three tivos so I can record House, Heroes, and now Chuck on Monday nights. I think with the fall of Heroes’ ratings we’ll see more viewers joining the spy game 🙂

We LOVE the show “Chuck”!!!!!!! As much as I would love to see it on in January, I would like it to wait until March so it won’t be interrupted with the Olympics. Unless, you think you’re going to cancel it, I want to see as many episodes as I can. DON’T TAKE IT OFF THE AIR!!!!!!!

Chuck is probably the most fun show on television (is that proper English?) and one of the few shows that I doesn’t sit on my DVR unwatched for days. This is great news!
