Although Dark Matter did pretty well in its first two seasons, are viewers still interested in the Raza shipmates’ backstories? Syfy seems to think so. In fact, it’s added an after-show — After Dark — for the space opera’s third season. Will Dark Matter be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned.
A science fiction drama, Dark Matter stars Marc Bendavid, Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr, Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross, and Zoie Palmer. The Syfy TV series follows the crew of a derelict spaceship who awake with no memory of who they are or how they got on board. Still, they must work together to survive a threatening voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal, and plenty of secrets.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The second season of Dark Matter on Syfy averaged a 0.17 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 676,000 viewers.

i love this show. At first i thought the special effects left a little bit to be desired, but now i don’t even notice.

Season 3 ended in a major cliffhanger (something I might add that the producers consistently manage to pull of from episode to episode) and it would be such a shame not to see such a great show renewed.
Yet the live average ratings on this “great” show dropped AGAIN! From a 0.17 last season to a 0.15 this season. What is SYFY building? Nothing! They keep renewing shows that wouldn’t have been renewed (with garbage ratings like this) for decades. The show hasn’t been renewed yet, but chances are it will be, if there was a cliffhanger. Wynonna Earp dropped from a 0.13 to a 0.12, and this from a 0.17 to a 0.15. This channel is a disgrace.
While I wouldn’t be so harsh with Syfy, I agree to the point that today even low rated (by the Nielsen system) shows are renewed, with ratings that would have axed any other show a few years ago. Some of those shows have even half the rating Stargate Universe had, but are nevertheless renewed. That is something I cannot understand. But I appreciate that Dark Matter, the Expanse and Killjoys came this far, they are, at least, nice and entertaining.
I realllly like this show but this nonsense of them getting captured, escaping, captured, escaping and on and on and on…gets old. Please bring this back for a good 4 more “seasons” but stop with this idiocy of “what do we write for them to do?” “I know,lets get them captured again and then escape again”.
BUT don’t leave us hanging.I am so tired of shows that leave us hanging then we never hear from it again. IF the powers that be do cancel at least give us a wrap up show.

Need to renew it please. A lot of these companies that pay to renew another season are too quick to judge and cull series from their networks which is really quite disappointing. I don’t believe their viewing statistics reflects a true overall viewing rating.

Too quick to judge? The ratings DROPPED in season 2 from the season one ratings, and the ratings Dropped in season three from the season two ratings. The ratings are already in a range that no show for decades would ever have been renewed with. You don’t think viewing statistics matter? Does that mean a show with 5 viewers should be renewed? Lucky for you, FATLURE is acceptable at SYFY. This FAILURE will probably be back.

Very good characters and development. Should be renewed.
This is one of the better shows I have seen. I thought the first two seasons had a little more excitement, and as I watched the third season, I thought it was a little duller. However, with one episode left for me to watch, it occurs to me there was a lot of groundwork laid for an explosion of activity in season four.
