DCI Banks TV Series Cancelled After Five Seasons on ITV

The broadcaster said that the fifth series, which aired earlier this year, will be its last.
“After five series, ITV has taken the decision not to recommission DCI Banks. We’re grateful to the production team at Left Bank Pictures for creating the world of DCI Banks and the actors Stephen Tompkinson, Andrea Lowe and Caroline Catz for the commitment and dedication they’ve shown to their roles.”

I am a big fan of DCI Banks TV Series especially Caroline Catz. Iwas so disappointed to see it end. All the episodes were intriguing. I am also a fan of the novels.
This is such a great show. The actors are truly intense. I cannot believe you have canceled it.

Just read Season 6 is cancelled. Terribly disappointed, DCI Banks was awesome. Character development excellent, story lines wonderful as well.

We have watched the entire series of all seasons and it was probably one of, if not THE BEST law enforcement series out there, bar none!
Much has already been said about how great this series was – the notion of a 2 episodes to complete an new story line was brilliant. All the characters from ‘main to supportive’ was a perfect fit – and wonderfully acted and executed. One can only hope that ITV’s (Polly Hill) decision to cancel this series was to make room for something even better . Just got done watching all 5 seasons on Amazon prime. Great acting, writing. Sorry it was canceled. Very rare to find a series that is truly 5 star that doesn’t depend on violence, profanity and sex to capture viewers. This was truly a great series.
I just binged watched all five seasons and loved it. I loved the actors and was sad when Annie was killed off. Because the last episode left it open for a season six, I googled to see when it would air. So sad it was cancelled. The acting and writing were excellent. Any chance you will reconsider?
I have begun watching the show through Amazon Prime, and have found it a great show. Now I find that it has been cancelled after 5 seasons???? I find it difficult to believe that the powers-that-be have a brain that they are using. How could something so great cut?
Found the show riveting and enjoyable. Quality stories and acting. Probably replaced with reality tv – big loss.

This was an excellent series and I cannot imagine why the heck it was cancelled. Its so difficult to find quality viewing. There are so many new shows my husband and I will not watch due to language, horrific violence and negative sexual content. We never had to worry with DCI Banks. What a shame.

Never should have cancelled such a riveting series…I just watched all 5 seasons in one sitting….and I’m American….pity
