Spoiler Warning: spoilers below for the Elementary TV show’s season four finale, which aired last night on CBS. TV Line reports actor John Noble (Morland Homes) will not return to the fifth season of Elementary as a series regular. According to the report, EP Rob Doherty said this departure was always in the cards.

After taking over Moriarty’s organization in order to protect Sherlock and Joan, the senior Holmes said goodbye to New York City during Sunday’s Season 4 finale. […]
“This was always the plan that we would have John aboard for Season 4,” and he would then exit, executive producer Rob Doherty tells TVLine. “We wanted Morland — and, by extension, John — to help us define Season 4, and he absolutely did that. I feel like we told the one long story we wanted to, but we [also] got to tell a lot of smaller stories about Sherlock and his father, and then Morland trying to develop a relationship with Joan. We feel like we did everything we set out to do.”
Doherty goes on to add, “We’ve also left the door very open to seeing John again next year.”

Why does the star of elementary speak so quite and mumble. Love the series but can not understand anything Sherlock is saying
John Noble is fantastic; they absolutely must do a thread with Morland returning; the scenes with Jonny Miller and Lucy Liu are among the best on television.
John Noble and Morcroft have made this quartet of characters
the standout acting ensemble of any other program. They should
be worked into the storylines whenever possible. It’s exciting
watching these four relate to each other (Miller, Liu, Ifan & Noble).
It’s exciting theater (and usually better than theatre!)
I like John in the show on an intermittent basis such as coming to the aide of Sherlock in a crisis situation or just popping in to say hello for no particular reason. It could give his character a little more warmth and over time, maybe bring the relationship between him and Sherlock a little closer as father and son. It could show the viewers that people can change and relationships can be mended over time as love is shown and trust grows.

I loved the addition of John Noble I will definitly miss him! Hopully we will see more of him In season 5. On the other hand I do not wish to see Fiona and Joan’s childish sister.

Fiona and Lin are so boring. I wished so much to see Morland and Sherlock’s relationship to develop more :/
