On Empire, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) is the CEO of a successful hip hop music company. His life is turned upside down when he learns that he has ALS and must now choose one of his three sons as his successor. The rest of the cast includes Taraji P. Henson, Malik Yoba, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Gray, Trai Byers, Grace Gealey, Kaitlin Doubleday, and Gabourey Sidibe.

The 19-49 demographics is what all networks strives to reach, but every blue moon there comes a show so dynamic with entertainment and creativity , that a 66 year old woman like myself schedules in the empire as their entertainment show of the week. I have never been so excited to sit in front of my TV and watch a cast of beautifully talented actors who’s story lines are relatable and impressive in delivery. Explain when & how FOX is racist..
If my comments need to me validated with an explanation of why Fox TV is viewed as being racist, then you may not be of my race. If you were you would be able to elaborate on the subject matter. My reality is my truth, my truth is my life. I say go with your own experiences, if this is not your experience consider yourself a fortunate free white American or an illusionary free African American who lost their identity in the after birth.

I think it is fast, interesting and very slick. I like the plot, the phasing (lines) are believable and the characters right on. I think it would take a year for it to catch the interest of the public as it is not a station a watch normally but have told several people about. Hope you are on next year but a little publicity would help.
There are probably a lot of television executives shaking their heads right now, as they continue in denial about what constitutes a hit show and why the ratings for EMPIRE are so phenomenally high.
Amazing, isn’t it? Take a hint, Hollywood.
Lee Daniels? Taraji P. Henson? Terrence Howard? A fabulous cast, magnificent musicians? Set decorators, wardrobe and production assistants? A lot of talented, perpetually excluded people who finally got the opportunity and backing to prove what they could do…..and look what happened. SUCCESS.

good story, good writing, good acting equals AWESOME ratings. Gee, whodathunk? maybe the rest of tv will see this and stop with the usual drivel they have been passing out for so many years… Well. I can hope can’t I?

I love this show, it is the best show since Scandal. They always trying to find fault in something for the black audience. When there are many gay shows on that show the negative and positive side of gays. Please dont cancel this show. All my family and friends love it.
The show was good I enjoyed it I hope it stays on the tv. Cookie is great I love her character and Licisious is so good

Taraji is great, but the rest of the show is just awful.

With the ratings EMPIRE is garnering, the drama will not have to lament losing a viewer.
The show is good, pay attention to this, enjoy the music, I didn’t know that, Whoa !!! entertainment. I hate to blink for fear of missing something. And the music…..AH !
Looks like being jettisoned from Person of Interest was the best thing happened to Taraji P. Henson. That ratings for #that show are not doing well……
I gave it a chance because of Tariji P. Henson, and that’s all I can give it. I’m not interested in watching it any further. I knew when I saw Lee Daniels name attached to it– it would be full of stereotypes.

It is on my DVR and I plan on watching it soon . I will watch anything with Terrence Howard in it because he is so sexy, even if it is a flop.
What a fabulous debut for a long awaited, intelligently promoted drama which lived up to every bit of the hype! I really enjoyed EMPIRE and think the acting, music, story lines and characterizations were superb. The casting was right on point and all indications Cookie Lyon is a force, with which to be reckoned, appear to be accurate. I will be looking forward to future developments and episodes and am grateful for the opportunity to witness television history in the making. Kudos to Taraji P. Yes so right the show is a hit
I was actually quite impressed…really great acting…all the cast were easy on the eyes…I am from generation X so I was a little nestalgic with the blast from the 80’same past along with the cars and clothes from that era…I like the plot…I actually stumbled on the show…so I will now put it in my list of shows to watch…I say for now it’s definitely a keeper!!! 🙂
