It looks like FOX may have a hit on its hands so, after just two episodes, the network has renewed Empire for a second season.
On Empire, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) is the CEO of a successful hip hop music company. His life is turned upside down when he learns that he has ALS and must now choose one of his three sons as his successor. The rest of the cast includes Taraji P. Henson, Malik Yoba, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Gray, Trai Byers, Grace Gealey, Kaitlin Doubleday, and Gabourey Sidibe.

FOX has renewed hit drama series EMPIRE for a second season, it was announced today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group.
In the next all-new episode of EMPIRE, “The Devil Quotes Scripture,” airing Wednesday, Jan. 21 (9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, the Lyons head to Philadelphia for Bunkie’s funeral and get a taste of what their life could have been if Lucious (Terrence Howard) hadn’t made it big. Then, Lucious promotes Hakeem’s (Bryshere Gray) new relationship with hip-hop star Tianna (guest star Serayah), but tensions rise when another woman tries to catch Hakeem’s eye. Supermodel Naomi Campbell, Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. (“Jerry Maguire”) and music legend Gladys Knight guest-star.
Averaging a 5.3 rating in Nielsen’s Most Current measure, EMPIRE has emerged as the No. 1 new series of the season. Following its second episode, it is the only new broadcast drama this season to grow from week one to week two.
From Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels (“Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” “Precious”), Emmy Award winner Danny Strong (“Game Change,” “Lee Daniels’ The Butler”) and Academy Award- and Emmy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer (“A Beautiful Mind,” “24”), comes EMPIRE, a drama about a family dynasty, set within a world of music, glamour, danger and power.
Featuring music by prolific producer Timbaland, the series stars Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard (“Crash,” “Hustle & Flow”) and Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson (“No Good Deed,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”).
Among the series’ other featured cast members are Malik Yoba, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers, and Kaitlin Doubleday, as well as newcomers Bryshere Gray and Grace Gealey. Additional guest stars include Academy Award nominee Gabourey Sidibe (“American Horror Story,” “Precious”), Grammy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Courtney Love (“The People vs. Larry Flynt”), Derek Luke (“The Americans”) and Judd Nelson (“The Breakfast Club”).

Empire is the BAE show like it is kind of related based on true stories and Yasss I rather have a second season instead of it being cancelled. I wish it would hurry up tho!
I’m not a rap or hip hop fan but I watched the whole first season in three days and now i feel like a part of me is missing! One of the best shows to hit mainstream tv in a loooong time! When does the second season start!? I sure hope i don’t have to wait til January 2016!?

I am ecstatic Empire is coming back. I heard it was cancelled and I was going to boycott FOX and tell my family to do so as well. I am so happy to hear its coming back. I normally do not watch this type show but Empire has me hooked. I am having withdrawals just waiting until it airs for the second season. You made a good choice.

It is not for you to see the world as I do as you do not see the world from my view. You have your way of seeing and I have mine that’s why they are called perceptions.
this is exactly why I buy TV shows on Blu ray. They have too many commercials then they cancel just when you really get into to having true understanding of the struggles all people go through of all walks of life. It is an awesome show just as well as Jericho that they end up canceling without an explanation to the fans who watch the shows that give them great ratings.
Don’t care about color. It is a good struggle to be on top. A family s life, where they become doggie dog with each other to get to the top. Holds my interest. Never a dull moment!
I never thought anyone at Fox was that stupid to let this show go. I know Fox is to fan of people of color more so when your color is black. I will continue to support my stars of color and keep on loving the show. Way to go cast and hope you stay on for awhile. Empire is the only show I watch on Fox.
I know there are people yelling about “black stereo types” but we are what we are. I’m an African American professional nurse that worked in the public school system for 8 years; and I had more”booboo kitties” yelling in my face about who did I think I am because I would not their kids back in school until they get immunizations, asthma meds, allergy documentation, etc. And come on people IT’S TELEVISION you know entertainment. At least we’re not shuffling n fetching!

I have had withdrawl from the second it ended. Empire caught my eye from the previews before it started. Now my boyfriend and i are hooked and cant wait till the next season comes on. Were obsessed!! When will this show come back on??
I LoVE Empire!!! It is an AWESOME Show!! Can’t wait til next season but why is it going to be so long before it returns?? TOOOO Long off start it back in the fall!!!
I watched Empire and was hooked then got my husband hooked! We are true Empire fans and would love to watch season 2! This show is awesome one of the best shows on TV right now, bypassing most that have been on for a while. The writers are very creative, the actors and actress and real they bring meaning to television that I’ve been waiting to see for a while.
