Despite the fact that the show’s creator had plans for season three, here won’t be a third season of the Finding Carter TV show on MTV. The cable channel has cancelled the drama after 36 episodes.
On Finding Carter, a teenager (Kathryn Prescott) discovers that her beloved single mom actually abducted her as an infant and she’s reunited with her birth family. The cast also includes Cynthia Watros, Anna Jacoby-Heron, Alexis Denisof, Zac Pullam, and Alex Saxon.
The show’s first season averaged a 0.50 in the 18-49 demographic, with an average total audience size of 1.14 million viewers. Season two saw a sharp decline,averaging 0.29 in the demo with 560,000 viewers.
Co-star Pullam broke the news of the cancellation via Twitter today:

The final episode aired on December 15th and, unfortunately, ended with plenty of unfinished business — Bird was getting an abortion, Rick was beating Ben, and Max was turning himself in for the murder of Jared. Hopefully we’ll get some answers in the future.

MTV sucks for cancelling Finding Carter… In my opinion Finding Carter is the BEST show on MTV and it is horrible that they are cancelling it. I believe finding Carter is absolutely amazing and I look forward to watching it every single week. It is soo unfair it got cancelled leaving all fans with a horrible cliffhanger.
No finding carter cant stop its amazing and everyone loves it and looks forward to it. As do I because I fell in love with it and look forward to it every week when it stoppe I literally died

Honestly finding carter was absolutely amazing to me. You keep shows like teen mom, kardasians and they give such a negative influence to this generation. Not saying finding carter doesn’t have either but it’s a story/ narrative . Those shows that you had going forever are since it’s supposed to be based on real story lines. Finding Carter was definitely one of the best shows MTV has had in a while! I have no clue why they would cancel this show of all shows to cancel.I believe that they will lose many viewers because of this!
Well thats it. Im NEVER watching any of MTV’s shows again. That was seriously the best show and literally the only show I actually liked watching because the story line was different and interesting. MTV has some sucky shows, but Finding Carter was great and worth watching. Now they just lost another viewer. YOU SUCK MTV
Because who wants to watch a show that’s relatable to some people when you can watch teen pregnancy, drunken party stories, catfish, and let’s not mention the YouTube knockoff of ridiculousness…
I think this is by far the worst thing MTV has done besides stop playing music. So f’ing stupid.

Finding Carter is one of the best shows on MTV. The writers are doing an amazing job and the cliff hangers week after week keep me and many others hooked. Who ever is saying Finding Carter sucks don’t know what they’re talking about. This show is directed towards kids in high school, and should stay that way. And shouldn’t be given reviews by any one else. This show should be renewed and not cancelled, especially with all of the loose ends we don’t know about and have been waiting for. I can’t believe another show I really like is being canceled I don’t know why it had a good story I wish they would reconsider.
I am VERY VERY VERY heart broken that you have cancelled finding carter. It was my favorite show, my friends and I are EXTREMELY disappointed that there will not be a third season. WHY? I really wanted to how everything plays out. Thanks for ruining my dreams
That really sucks. I enjoy the show very much and wanted to see what happens.
Why am I not surprised? Every time I like a show it ends after a couple of seasons. Yes it was getting a little lame but I wanted to have some closure and see what happened next. Yet so many terrible shows or shows way past their prime continue on and on. I am so close to cancelling cable, what’s the point of paying a ton of money to watch television? I refuse to watch new shows any more because this happens all the time
