Grey’s Anatomy wrapped season 12 in May on ABC. Fans of the series have been waiting for news about season 13 of the series since the credits on the season finale rolled. Now, it has been reported by Entertainment Weekly that Ellen Pompeo has signed her new contract.
She is locked in for season 13, but it is not known if she is a lock beyond that. Previous contracts have been for two year deals, but the length of this new contract was not revealed. Other members of the cast, including Justin Chambers, Kevin McKidd, and Chandra Wilson, are still negotiating their contracts. However, Chambers revealed on his Twitter earlier this year that he would return for season 13.
The end of season 12 had a big moment for Meredith Grey, who is played by Pompeo. A potential romance with Martin Henderson’s character, Nathan Riggs, was teased. Pompeo spoke about that development with TV Line:
“There will only be one McDreamy ever. You know, he’s not replaceable. Sure, you may have other relationships, and you may even marry again, but everybody has that one great love.”
Pompeo made it clear that Meredith’s one great love was Derek, who was played by Patrick Dempsey. Are you excited to hear that Pompeo is staying with Grey’s Anatomy? Tell us what you think.
