There may still be a chance for Home Fires. According to Radio Times, the show’s creator is hoping to continue the cancelled ITV series.
Earlie this month, we reported the UK drama had been cancelled after two seasons. Home Fires stars Samantha Bond and Francesca Annis as members of the Women’s Institute during World War II.
Series creator Simon Block said he was surprised by the show’s cancellation:
It’s always difficult to gauge how things are going to go so you don’t quite know what the criteria for whether something’s going to carry on or not. It had held its audience, it had won its slots, figures were strong as far as I was told so in that sense I guess it was a surprise in that it went against what we were expecting based on the criteria we were told things get judged by.”
He mentioned that the fans’ response has been overwhelming:
I’ve been blown away. When the news came out that it had been cancelled, suddenly everything went ballistic and you really get a sense of how passionately people feel about it. That was really a bit of a shock.”
He later added that the show is exploring other avenues for a possible third season, but they are still in the process of “initial discussions.”

My husband and I were big fans of Home fires and bitterly disappointed to see it cancelled. We want to see a return to the screen in season 3.

Please return Home Fires. The ensemble is terrific, and it is a joy to watch.
Please reconsider and give us a Season Three of Home Fires. Many are interested in this series. It would be a shame to just cut it off mid-story.

Please return this series, I loved this view of the war. There are so many story lines left to tell. Please at least bring it to a decent ending!
We just watched Seasons 1 and 2, and have enjoyed it so much, one of the best series we have ever seen. Superbly done all around. It just cannot end with such a cliffhanger, so many questions and unresolved issues. Such an abrupt ending is just not right. Please please bring it back. We have fallen in love with the characters and must know how they come through the hard times.

Yes! Please bring a third series. It was one of the most interesting history related drama series that was not only clever, original and kept me wanting more. One of the best programms I have seen on the TV for a very long time.
