canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Kingdom

Kingdom TV show on DirecTVNetwork: Audience
Episodes: 40 (hour)
Seasons: Three

TV show dates: October 8, 2014 — August 2, 2017
Series status: Cancelled

Performers include: Nick Jonas, Kiele Sanchez, Matt Lauria, Jonathan Tucker, Joanna Going, and Frank Grillo.

TV show description:
This gritty family drama revolves around the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and is set in a small family gym in Venice, California.

Alvey Kulina (Frank Grillo) owns and operates Navy St. MMA — a down and dirty storefront gym/do jo. A beloved MMA legend, he is a man of big appetites who came up in a savage world, when MMA was closer to human cockfighting than a mainstream sport. He is a true warrior, carved on the Mt. Rushmore of MMA, but he doesn’t have a dime to show for it.

He is in love with Lisa Prince (Kiele Sanchez), his girlfriend and business partner. She’s an extraordinary woman who’s always honest with him. She runs the gym with military precision, always looking for ways to keep it afloat. Years ago, Lisa met an MMA star named Ryan Wheeler. They fell in love and she fell into the world of fighting. When Ryan crashed and burned and tore down Lisa’s life, Alvey was there to pick her up.

Charming and intelligent, Ryan (Matt Lauria) is a former three-time, All-American wrestler and a world-class athlete. Four years ago, Ryan was on top of the world — until he landed in prison. When he shows up at Alvey’s gym after his release, he is a changed, humbled man. Despite the risks, Alvey sees the return of a superstar fighter as an opportunity that can change the fortune of his struggling gym.

While trying to keep his business afloat, Alvey is also trying to repair his fragile relationships with his sons. Jay (Jonathan Tucker) is the prized fighter at the gym and a bit of a loose cannon who likes to party a too hard. Youngest son Nate (Nick Jonas) is an up and comer in the world of MMA. He’s always looked up to his older brother but is his polar opposite; reserved, disciplined, and dedicated.

Christina Kulina (Joanna Going) is Alvey’s estranged wife, and mother to his sons. She is an engaging and beautiful woman, undone by mental illness and drug abuse. Her eldest son Jay blames Alvey for turning his back on his Christina, while her youngest son Nate barely remembers her.

Series Finale:
Episode #40 — Lie Down in the Light
Alvey’s comeback fight couldn’t come at a worse time as Navy St. comes to grips with recent events. Roles are reversed when Ryan coaches Alvey, and Lisa begins a new chapter.
First aired: August 2, 2017.

I have never done this before but I am so disappointed that the writers ended Kingdom when they did. There should be another season for this show with some more closure. It was the best show I’ve ever watched with a horrible ending

There are probably a handful of shows that have actually become an epic status quo for television. Most of those are gone, because the story was finalized and completely told; or the ratings weren’t there (Much of the audience that views these shows, don’t seem to catch onto them until the 2nd/3rd season.) Kingdom is one of these shows, and whatever the reason, it’s fallen into the list of addictive series’ that go away before they’ve gotten their full head of hair. The show should be renewed for certain; I do believe that if they decided to shoot the 4th,… Read more »

Absolutely bring it back. Why are all of these amazing series being cancelled. I looked forward to watching every episode of Kingdom so my crazy ass life seemed somewhat abnormally normal. Please bring this show back. These fighters and actors are amazing. What does the audience have to do to get you to bring this show back on the ******* air where it belongs??????
