Last month, we reported that USA Networks was considering cancelling its long-running Law & Order: Criminal Intent series. After a number of different scenarios were supposedly bandied about, the cable channel has made up its mind — or has it?
The spin-off series follows investigations of high-profile cases. The show moved from NBC to USA Networks in 2007. Up until last year, it starred Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe. This past season starred Jeff Goldblum, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Saffron Burrows.
Due to the TV show’s uncertain future, Goldblum decided to exit. The rest of the cast’s contracts expired over the summer.
USA has now decided to both renew and cancel Criminal Intent. It’ll come back for a 10th and final season of eight episodes. This will bring the series total to 195 installments.
On the positive side, D’Onofrio is returning as Detective Goren, a character he’s played in 133 episodes. Other castmembers are still in negotiations to return.
Executive producer Dick Wolf said, “Only time will tell if this is a fond farewell or a renaissance for Detective Robert Goren but everyone is ecstatic about going back to work on a show that’s a passion for all of us.”
Interestingly, Jeff Wachtel, president of original programming for USA, doesn’t sound totally committed to ending the show. He said “We have been the fortunate caretakers of this legendary series, and we plan to give it the world-class farewell it so richly deserves. Dick and his team promise to create a major event for television with incredible surprises. The plan is for this to be the series finale, but with a Dick Wolf franchise, one really never knows until it’s over.”
The 10th and final (?) season of Law & Order Criminal Intent is expected to air in 2011.

Please bring back Goren and Eames! They were so excellent! Jeff Goldblum and Miss Burrows always seemed as though they were acting, unlike Alex and Bobby.It just didn’t work with them, although I think Jeff is a good actor. He was overacting in that show and she was just being “pretty”. I have really missed Goren and Eames and this was the ONLY show I watched because I was hooked!! Otherwise I read. I am certain if they were brought back the ratings would go exactly where Mr.Wolf wants them.
They must make an episode where Goren is beaten, tied up, and going in and out of consciousness with his female kidnapper with blonde hair in front of him taunting him saying, you’ve never been in this much pain before , have you, you won’t have to endure much nore as I will soon kill you. I love law and order: CI; esp the characters in it Gorren and Sames; they are my favorite! Please bring them back for season 11 or I’m going to cry; they put on these horrible shows like the Jersey shore “fake reality”! But they take away interesting shows like law and order: CI, what is going on with television these days, common seroiusky; that’s so unfair! Please bring back criminal intent for season 11, I will greatly appreciate it, and so will many others!

Law & Order CI is my favorite show of all time.I love the show ,I watched it every day.I never miss the one episode,even the reruns.Im hooked on Law & Order CI.I want to see the show back,with Goren & Eames.Please bring back the character of Mike Logan.hes gorgeaus.I just love the show so much.Im hooked on it.Also lets not forget about NCIS & White Collar.
I’m pretty sure that alissa, took evry thought I had about season 11 and Vincent D’Onofrio directly out of my head… Goren n Eames are harmony! Please bring back CI. At least give a better closure, for a season 11.
