canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

Limitless: Showrunner Teases Season Two Plans

by Jessica Pena, April 26, 2016

limitless-ratings

Limitless airs its season one finale tonight. But what’s next? Recently, executive producer Craig Sweeny spoke to IGN about the finale and season two of the CBS series.

Limitless stars Jake McDorman as Brian Finch, a slacker who becomes an FBI guinea pig for a new drug that enhances his brain’s abilities. Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon also star.

In the interview, Sweeny said the end of season one will feel complete:

I did not want to create something where you watch it and go, “That was not a complete chapter of a larger whole.” My goal has always been to tell a complete story in Season 1 and a complete story in Season 2 and tell a complete story for every season that we get, so that eventually you have chapters that feel like complete seasons. So we will have essentially told the story of Sands and what it means for Brian the character to have faced not just one but multiple adversaries who are on NZT.”

When asked about the next season, he said it will feature some changes:

So, we’re going to make some changes to the show, but it will remain essentially — we do find a way for it to be Brian taking NZT working with Rebecca and Boyle and a couple new members on the team, solving crimes and having fun a week-to-week basis. So despite the current state of things at the end of “Finale: Part One!” at the end of the season, we are in a different place, but not as radically different as it feels like what we’re in right now.”

CBS has not officially renewed Limitless for a second season yet. The season one finale airs tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

What do you think? Do you watch Limitless? Do you think it will be renewed? What do you hope happens in the finale?

I have thoroughly enjoyed season one of Limitless. I believe the cast has a wonderful chemistry and it fast became one of my favorite shows. I’ll be extremely disappointed if it doesn’t return for a season two, three, etc. A drama that makes you grin, during the craziest political primary I’ve ever seen??? If that’s not a valid reason to bring back Limitless and it’s wonderful cast, I don’t know what is???
ps….Save some of that NZT just in case Trump gets elected!!! : )

This is one of the only shows I’ve seen in a long time that can actually hold me in close to it. It balances drama with uplifting entertainment in a way that most shows simply cannot. With unimaginative dreck like NCIS and Chicago Fire running long seasons and spinoffs I cannot imagine losing out on the one good thing on TV right now.
