Supergirl: Executive Producer Teases Season Two Plans

by Jessica Pena, April 19, 2016

Supergirl TV show on CBS: cancel or renew for season 2? CW?

Supergirl just ended its first season last night. Already, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has teased some season two details in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The superhero series, which stars Melissa Benoist, David Harewood, and Mehcad Brooks, has still not been renewed by CBS.

Speaking to EW, Kreisberg said season two will feature a more mature Supergirl:

This whole season has been about her embracing being Supergirl. In a way, this was her graduation episode. She hadn’t fully figured out how to integrate being Supergirl into her life. This whole season has been a learning experience for her. At the end of this episode, she’s fully Supergirl. Next season, you’re going to see a Supergirl who is more mature, and a bit more of a cohesive character. She’s taken the identity of Kara and the identity of Supergirl and merged them in a better way. You’re just going to see a more confident, stronger Supergirl than we’ve ever seen before.”

He added that the next season will probably also feature Kara and James trying out a relationship:

Yeah, I think so. We wanted Kara to have a happy ending. She got everything she wanted. She had her family together — she had her sister and her adoptive mother (Helen Slater), Winn (Jeremy Jordan), J’onn, and she got the guy, too. When she was telling James to move on, that was her clumsy attempt at saying goodbye to everybody. Once she saved the day and lived to tell the tale, those concerns were alleviated.”

He also said that season two will definitely feature Jeremiah Danvers:

It’ll be one aspect of it. We’ve been discussing the big bad of season 2; Cadmus may or may not be related to that. The hunt for Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain) will definitely be part of season 2.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of Supergirl? Did you watch the season one finale? What do hope happens in season two if the show is renewed?

Don’t let Supergirl die, there is so much material to have at least 13 seasons. 13 for good luck.
Don’t let go of a good thing.

It was good. I’m glad it ended happy. But I felt the TV show storylines. Don’t hack me, Marty Nixon from BTVS. Stop hacking TRL boybands. Grow up. Make it more optimistic, more assertive for the common person, and show characters with respect for God, Traditional values, & actual forgive people from their past. More like ” Lois & Clark” in positive thinking and more respect for these institutions and people. Stop showing people with learning disorders as crazy and evil. Just because of all the scams entertainment companies tend to do to them & people playing “Revenge of the… Read more »

Please don’t have Supergirl have a romantic relationship with James. It looks odd and you are playing the race card for millions of people. You are hurting people’s feelings and America is not ready for that.

What do you mean race card? America isn’t ready for what, a white girl getting together with a back guy? That isn’t playing the race card and people have been fine with interracial relationships for years. Do you think it’s bad that Barry and Iris on “The Flash” are getting together? You need to quit trolling.

I was excited for the show until I found out they were doing that crap. It’s getting so tired, honestly. You never see any other interracial relationships on TV or movies. Just white girl, black guy. White girl, black guy. White girl, black guy. Make JIMMY asian. THAT would have at least been something different.

Supergirl deserves a second chance to draw her audience in. Yes, season one had some mistakes in the story line, yet it has a good quality that fits the small screen that has been missing for a long time. Please Renew for her second season.

The show was amazing and I can’t wait for season 2! It would be awesome to see more superheroes come into the show, The Flash crossover was one of my favorite episodes and I liked that they kept CW The Flash as The Flash in supergirl. By far one of my favorite shows:)

We watch it via antennae. Viewer numbers don’t capture cable-cutters. My 70-year old dad watches with his wife; my tween watches it with me. We would hate to see this show go away. Loved the crossover with Flash.
