The ratings for the first season of Motive weren’t very good but ABC renewed it anyway (in part because they license it from Canada so it’s cheaper). Will they want a third season or will the series be cancelled instead? Stay tuned!
Motive revolves around a strong-willed Vancouver detective (Kristin Lehman) who’s also a single mom. At the start of each episode, viewers are shown the killer and victims. As the criminal investigation progresses, details of what led to the crime are revealed via flashbacks. The rest of the cast includes Louis Ferreira, Lauren Holly, Roger Cross, Brendan Penny, and Cameron Bright.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. 5/29/14 update: The show has been renewed for a third season in Canada.
6/2/15 update: ABC has dropped the series.
Final season averages: 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.07 million total viewers.

Motive is an awesome series, creative interesting plot. Great cast of characters,
Lehman and Ferreira compliment each other well. The show is clean and we have

The show presents a very professional crime solving team. Really like the format showing the victim and the murderer from the start. The team searching for the motive is both unique and interesting. Motive is a keeper!

Definitely one of the better realistic shows on TV….Motive should be renewed…Cold Case should be brought back, that too was a realistic show and one that was much closer to actuality.

This is a great show..promote it more and renew it! I like the subplots, but lose the music, can be a little tough to hear…One of the better cop shows around.
