Netflix is teaming up with José Padilha again. Deadline reports the Narcos director/executive producer is making a new series for the streaming service.
The second season of Narcos is expected to premiere this year.
Based on Brazil’s real-life corruption investigation, Operation Car Wash, the untitled series will examine the alleged corruption of the state-owned oil company, Petrobas.
Padilha will direct the series, with Elena Soares writing. Filming is expected to begin this year.
From Padilha:
This project will follow the judicial investigators in their journey to unveil the largest corruption scheme that Brazil has ever witnessed. It was fundamental for the series to be produced in an impartial way, and I have no doubt that Netflix is the best partner for the project.”
