Though it hasn’t been a ratings success, ABC has kept Nashville on the air. Will the numbers continue to fall this season? Is there a chance that it could be cancelled or is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fourth season (because of potential syndication profits)? We’ll have to wait and see.
The Nashville TV show continues to follow the lives and careers of country music superstars Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) and Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). The rest of the cast includes Clare Bowen, Eric Close, Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella, Will Chase, and Oliver Hudson.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: ABC has renewed Nashville for a fourth season.
Final season averages: 1.34 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.16 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The second season of Nashville averaged a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Nashville TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fourth season?
Love this show. Agree with everyone’s comments. Don’t cancel please. It is different than most shows. Not a murder and crime show.It has a variety of themes and excellent country music.
Nashville is one of those sleeper shows that gets better and better the longer it’s on. Kudos to ABC for standing by this excellent show with a mind-blowing cast and music that is as good as if professionals are involved. None of the wonderful characters are professional country singers, but it’s hard to tell. They are just that good. If ABC will stick with Nashville one more season, I predict a successful show on the same level as NCIS in the near future. This show has everything. Superb cast, excellent songs and singers and a story that will make you… Read more »
