TNT has renewed their popular Rizzoli & Isles TV show for a seventh season but it will be a shorter-than-usual season.
Rizzoli & Isles revolves around the unlikely but highly effective partnership of police detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and medical examiner Doctor Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander). Lorraine Bracco, Jordan Bridges, and Bruce McGill co-star.
The sixth season of the TNT series is currently airing and is averaging a 0.68 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.23 million viewers. Season-to-season, that’s down by about 20%.
TNT ordered 18 episodes for season six last December — the show’s biggest season — following prolonged negotiations with the show’s producer, Warner Horizon Television. Harmon and Alexander both saw increases in their salaries.
Only 13 installments have been ordered for year seven — Rizzoli & Isles’ smallest episode order since season one. There hasn’t been any talk of that being the final season and word is that the supporting cast will be negotiating for season seven.

One reason for the 20% decliine in Rizzoli and Isles’ viewership may be attributed to the loss of Lee Thompson Young, which can still be felt; the emphasis on Rizzoli’s family — far too much Jordan Bridges; and lack of a life of any kind for Maura Isles, unless there is a Rizzoli in it; and the speed with which Jane’s bumbling brother suddenly, and unrealistically, becomes a detective under his sister’s command. I look forward to Rizzoli & Isles every summer, along with Major Crimes- my 2 summer staples. The season needs to be LONGER, not shorter. I love the whole cast, not just the leads.
I enjoy Rizzoli & Isles. The characters are interesting and likeable. Besides all that, it is the only thing ON this summer!!!
Well that doesn’t bode well for the show which I happen to enjoy immensely. I am a bit disappointed with the quality of storylines this season, but that does happen from time to time. I’ll keep watching!
I stopped watching two years ago even though from the beginning the characters or plots did not resemble even a little bit Tess Gerritsen’s novels. The plots of the show really went down hill – for me anyway. If I think about it, I was disappointed from the beginning about the lack of resemblance to Gerritsen’s characters, but did enjoy the show for a long time.
the show and the books are supposed to be different judy tess gerritsen didnt want the show to be identical but have some similarities if you were expecting it to be the case then you have misunderstood the whole concept of the show
My entire family has been enjoying the show since it first aired. I hate idea of shorter season and especially don’t like the long break between “seasons” Keep the show on and stop jacking with number of episodes and shorten the time we have to wait.
series 7 is only gonna be 13 episodes but series 7 will air in the summer of 2016

This is such a great cop/duo show! I look forward to watching it and tape every episode so I don’t miss it. It needs to stay on. It has a refreshingly great cast that work together so well!! We need more shows like this!! Get rid of the stupid reality shows and show more like this!!
I love Rizzoli and Isles, look forward to it every year. It’s a great show with great characters who interact well with each other. I hope it won’t be cancelled anytime soon. This show actually brought me to TNT to watch other show on that station.

The show is better than other series but it is carried by Harman and Alexander, who are very good in their roles. It would be better to see this show continue than coming up with some of the current new shows on the TNT schedule.
Hopefully, TNT will keep Rizzoli & Isles on TV.

I think it can continue, depending on the quality of the writing. I don’t believe that even Tess Garritsen could foresee it lasting this many seasons. If the plots remain interesting, I will continue watching.
yeah shorten a good show like rizzoli and isles and keep trash on tv that makes sense NOT!
I enjoy the show and would be disappointed if it were ended.
