It looks like season eight won’t be on the docket for police detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Doctor Maura Isles. Variety reports that Turner Entertainment chief creative officer Kevin Reilly confirmed that the Rizzoli & Isles TV show has been cancelled by TNT.
Though stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander likely would have kept making episodes, Reilly said that, “It felt like it was time.” The current cast also includes Lorraine Bracco, Jordan Bridges, and Bruce McGill.
While Rizzoli & Isles remains one of TNT’s top-rated shows, the ratings have fallen quite a bit over the years. The sixth season, which resumes on February 15th, is averaging a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.35 million viewers. That’s down by about 17% when compared to the fifth season’s ratings.
On the plus side, there are still plenty of new episodes to come. There are six more episodes remaining in the sixth season and the show’s already been renewed for a seventh season of 13 episodes. The latter will begin airing in the summer.

Rizzoli &Isles should not be cancelled there are not many show with main charaters protraying success in law enforcement. I agree that the family bond is something that is not seen in tv shows any longer
My daughter and I have watched the show since it first aired and it really gives a great message regarding females in law enforcement in which being a cop or medical examiner is not out of reach for females and how really important forensic evidence is in cases. I like Rizzoli and Isles the characters are very entertaining and they also have a strong family/friend bond which is rare to find in shows today. Please don’t cancel the series.
Let’s hope they don’t touch Major Crimes!
I’m so mad and saddened that this show has been canceled it is the only show I look forward to watching these days everything is about vampires and zombies this show is about people please don’t cancel it I love the characters rizzoli and isles they are strong independent woman who have real relationship with f fiends and family there just isn’t enough shows that have quality anymore the actors are all excellent and believable
I am so disappointed I am MAD. This is a quality show which is so rare. I have hundreds of channels and cannot find a thing to watch! Please reconsider this bad decision or have someone else pick it up. The quality of this show has gotten better and better, it is still on an upward spiral. I love the new additions to the cast. PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!!!
Did anyone notice Rizzoli making a call to Quantico… after she went to give that class? I don’t think that part fit into that particular show. Perhaps they will begin a spin-off with some character changes or such. I don’t believe Angie would want to quit acting since she has not been divorced that long. A lot of shows have done that. So agree, 90% of viewing options are so much crap. Of course, there is that agenda everyone is pushing. It should of kept going awesome show and characters will miss it and castle so much
I love this series. It is smart show and a great addition for summer viewing. Two capable, strong women, plus enjoyable personalities and a cast of other delightful characters. Please, you must reconsider cancelling Rizzoli and Isles. This show is a perfect pairing with Major Crimes for Monday night viewing. Add my vote to the growing number of unhappy fans who want this show to STAY PUT!!!!
We really loved these characters/actors, and quality of show.
We also agree most programing on other networks ais pure drivel. We refuse to watch idiotic reality shows, liberal programing is pitiful. It is bad enough in real life,
why sit and watch most of the garbage.
Eventually these network moguls will figure out how serious the silent majority is. We will miss Rizzoli and Isles, and other cast members!!

This show and major crimes are the only two reasons left that I watch tnt anymore..They keep canceling all the good shows worth watching and putting on junk. If the networks keep this up pretty soon I will be able to shut my cable off, due to lack of decent programming.
I can’t believe this show is being cancelled. The cast, characters and stories are great. One of the few shows that has done a wonderful kpb keeping the characters real and stories interesting without killing someone off every two minutes. I wish you would reconsider renewing this show or hopefully another station will pick up this show.
I can’t believe that you are taking off such a great show. I love the fact that it is a show without all the trash on so many programs. The show focuses not only on the crime but also the lives of the characters. It is a program that the whole family can watch, it is wholesome, humorous, and still has good story lines. What you need to cancele is these stupid reality programs that are a joke. I hope you will reconsider canceling this show. Please don’t replace it with another sick show like Animal Kingdom.
I am fed up with both the media and TV…there is nothing left on TV anymore other than trashy shows. TNT What are you thinking? There are over 90 stations on TV filled with stupid nonsensical comedies, reality shows, such as Naked and afraid….really! How come I see polls about ratings, yet I have never been invited to vote? There are truly very few interesting shows for the 35 and older viewer. Yukkkk. Why not bring out more reality shows that require no acting skills and no meaningful dialogue
Wow, the producers of these good shows are making
very bad choices. I am sure you will replace with some
reality show drivel. You have some great actors,
that the over 35 crowd want to enjoy. If you continue to
kowtow to youngsters, who will buy your ad products?
Most of the people who work 30-40 hours a week pay
for the groceries. Get your priorities in order.
