Adventurer and survivalist Bear Grylls has had a couple TV shows on NBC so far. Get Out Alive was cancelled after one season while Running Wild with Bear Grylls has been renewed and will return in July. Will The Island have good enough ratings to be asked back for a second season? Stay tuned.
On The Island, 14 American men answer the question: Can a man of today’s world survive on a deserted island without the luxuries — or even the basics — of contemporary everyday life? Unlike other reality shows, there are no prizes, no eliminations, no winners, and no camera teams. Everything viewers see has been filmed by the men themselves.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Really, I mean really? This was THE more boring reality show out there! These men were wimps and the finally was truly boring! Look, we have Survivor, which is still good but not as challenging in the sense of getting your own food and things as it use to be. And we have Naked and Afraid. Now, any one of the people on Naked and Afraid, even the ones who went home should be able to beat anyone on The Island! They don’t have food, clothes, shelter unless they make it themselves. loved the show, (it’s entertainment people, let’s just enjoy it, ok? – no snarking) the men were adorable, I fell in love with Benji, and it fed my inner swiss family Robinson . hated to see it end, I miss Benji already lol
