Tyrant to Conclude On FX With Tonight’s Season 3 Finale

Sep 7, 2016 5:47 AM

LOS ANGELES, September 7, 2016 – FX announced today that Tyrant’s season 3 finale airing tonight will mark the conclusion of the series. For three thrilling seasons,Tyrant followed the intrigue and exploits of an American family drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent Middle East nation.

“It’s very difficult to find common ground with other people whose stories we do not know or understand,” said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions. “The creators of Tyrant have done their utmost over three seasons to tell American audiences a tiny fraction of the many gripping, human stories coursing through the Middle East today. We want to thank Howard Gordon, Chris Keyser and their talented team of collaborators, including all the writers, directors, cast and crew, as well as our studio partners at Fox 21 Television Studios, for taking on Tyrant’s tremendously ambitious story with such profound dedication and respect.”

“Tyrant is a beloved show to all of us at Fox 21 Television Studios, and we are indebted to Howard and Chris for their incredible work, and to John Landgraf and everyone at FX who have been fantastic partners,” said Fox 21 Television Studios President Bert Salke. “We feel the show is a gem and we’d love to find a way to keep it in production. That said, we want to be realistic about its prospects. So for its loyal audience, tonight’s episode will be a satisfying end should the series not find another home, but also provides interesting possibilities should we be able to continue on some other platform.”

The series finale of Tyrant airs at 10 PM tonight, September 7, on FX: Episode 10 – “Two Graves” – Barry and Molly are on the brink of waging war on the Caliphate. Leila makes a bold political move and braves the possibility of a close betrayal. Barry and Daliyah face a final reckoning in their relationship. The conflict in Abuddin threatens to turn into a bloody civil war. Written by Christopher Keyser & Howard Gordon; directed by Gwyneth Horder-Payton.

Tyrant is executive produced by Howard Gordon, Chris Keyser, Gideon Raff and Avi Nir. The series stars Adam Rayner, Jennifer Finnigan, Moran Atias, Ashraf Barhom, Noah Silver, Alexander Karim, Cameron Gharaee, Melia Kreiling and Chris Noth. Tyrant is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

I am so very disappointed to hear this news. This is a phenomenal, well written and acted program. It was different and that’s what made it so good. FX, please reconsider! This is a very wrong decision.

If you are going to cancel a good show at least finish the story lines. You left everyone guessing.

Tyrant is an excellant show. It shows that the Arab world is just as confused as the western world. They are trying to exist as the rest of us are. This show gives us a view into their lives and makes for better understanding of their problems. IT SHOULD NOT BE CANCELLED

The kind of shows that get cancelled and the ones that get renewed on TV seem to indicate what we have become: intellectually lazy zombies who are after instant gratification.

I agree completely. They are continuing silly programs with no depth at all!

This is an amazing show! Cancelled?! Are they nuts? What a shame! I wonder who pays the people that makes these decisions. If I were one of them, I’d be firing the people who cancelled this show.

This whole season has gradually set the stage for the huge climactic conflict that will bring about resolution — one way or another — and end the story. At the end of this episode, all the pieces are finally in place on the chess board so that the next season can resolve everything — AND USA IS CANCELLING IT!?! I am SO sick of investing multiple seasons in a story that ends every season with a cliff hanger without knowing if it’s even coming back — and then having the show cancelled before the story ends, without ANYTHING LIKE the… Read more »

Tyrant is far the best T.V. series. I am extremely dissapointed!!!! I hope FX changes their mind. I waited an entire year for the next season to come. All the other shows FX airs are all bs. I always wait for wednesdays. They should also consider that people like me do record this due to work. I am sure there are alot more fans and people watching they are not calculating it right. They should bring more awareness to this show. This show gets better and better, with the suspense. I honestly dont post comments at all but for this… Read more »

I just got into this show in the off season and got caught up with all the shows before this season started and really got into season 3. Seems every time you find something good it gets canceled. Hard to find good tv with all the junk reality or the same kind of show on every network.

This is a good show……I hope an organization picks it up and drops some of the more stereotypical casting…

FX has disappointed me again!!! This is a great show!! Perhaps it didn’t pander to the low information generation!! Yet network idiocy like “2 Broke Girls” etc stays on!! I hope some network will continue “Tyrant”

I really liked Tyrant the first season but the show became worse every season. The plot has become so asinine this season that I had a feeling the ratings would drop. The show lost ample viewers this season.

The Caucasian son was probably the worst story line of many. I have never seen a man cry so much in my life. Every time he was on the show my entire family would start laughing.

Tyrant was a top notch show for the first season but the writers really messed things up as the current ratings cleary show.

Tyrant was a top notch show for the first season but the writers really messed things up. Maybe the writers were running out of ideas on what to do next and blew it. I’ve watched all of the series to date (apart from the last one), and am losing interest. Except that I’m hooked and will watch it just for the heck.

You are so right. You mentioned “2 Broke Girls”, a particularly idiotic show that I never watch. That one stays on forever, yet a great show like Tyrant gets cancelled. I really wonder who makes these terrible decisions !

They seem to be cancelling all my favorite shows. I hate the reality shows that are taking over everything these days.

Agree 100%. There’s extremely few reality shows worth watching (Face Off, Ink Master, which actually show off talent) but I am so sick of channels constantly finding the worst people and turning them into “celebrities” (Bachelor, Teen Mom, ect). I would much rather see a really good scripted story.
