Tyrant to Conclude On FX With Tonight’s Season 3 Finale

Sep 7, 2016 5:47 AM

LOS ANGELES, September 7, 2016 – FX announced today that Tyrant’s season 3 finale airing tonight will mark the conclusion of the series. For three thrilling seasons,Tyrant followed the intrigue and exploits of an American family drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent Middle East nation.

“It’s very difficult to find common ground with other people whose stories we do not know or understand,” said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions. “The creators of Tyrant have done their utmost over three seasons to tell American audiences a tiny fraction of the many gripping, human stories coursing through the Middle East today. We want to thank Howard Gordon, Chris Keyser and their talented team of collaborators, including all the writers, directors, cast and crew, as well as our studio partners at Fox 21 Television Studios, for taking on Tyrant’s tremendously ambitious story with such profound dedication and respect.”

“Tyrant is a beloved show to all of us at Fox 21 Television Studios, and we are indebted to Howard and Chris for their incredible work, and to John Landgraf and everyone at FX who have been fantastic partners,” said Fox 21 Television Studios President Bert Salke. “We feel the show is a gem and we’d love to find a way to keep it in production. That said, we want to be realistic about its prospects. So for its loyal audience, tonight’s episode will be a satisfying end should the series not find another home, but also provides interesting possibilities should we be able to continue on some other platform.”

The series finale of Tyrant airs at 10 PM tonight, September 7, on FX: Episode 10 – “Two Graves” – Barry and Molly are on the brink of waging war on the Caliphate. Leila makes a bold political move and braves the possibility of a close betrayal. Barry and Daliyah face a final reckoning in their relationship. The conflict in Abuddin threatens to turn into a bloody civil war. Written by Christopher Keyser & Howard Gordon; directed by Gwyneth Horder-Payton.

Tyrant is executive produced by Howard Gordon, Chris Keyser, Gideon Raff and Avi Nir. The series stars Adam Rayner, Jennifer Finnigan, Moran Atias, Ashraf Barhom, Noah Silver, Alexander Karim, Cameron Gharaee, Melia Kreiling and Chris Noth. Tyrant is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

Loved this show. This indeed was a gem. Gives you a dose of reality of what may be going on abroad. Hopefully this show is picked up by someone else, smart decision if it is. I will definitely tune in!

Truly sorry to see this gem get cancelled, I cried during this episode, it was so very relevant and helped me understand better what is going on in the world today. I truly hope that FX reconsiders their decision on this show. As far as my friends and I were concerned it was premium TV!

My husband and I are very disappointed. Having lived in the Middle East, we loved the culture, colors, and texture of the show. We watched from day one of Season 1. Such an international cast isn’t found on any other show! We watch it “On Demand” every week on Tuesdays at 9 pm. We just watched the finale last night and after it was over I googled for information about season 4 and found out it was cancelled!

Tyrant had rich, diverse, characters trying to solve complex problems with solutions viewed differently by the various ethnic groups. We thoroughly enjoyed this interesting program and became attached to the various characters.
With all Tyrants’ strengths,it it regrettable that it has not been renewed. Perhaps it will find a new.home. I believe that FX undervalued the intelligence of their viewers.

I cried after watching the last episode because i couldn’t believe that this gem of a show is truly over. Why is this happening? This is one of the few shows that is actually relevant to the world right now. I don’t understand why FX is doing this….coming from a deeply broken heart. I’m so sad. Trashy reality shows stay on for 110 seasons but true art get’s cancelled? C’mooon!!!

I’m more than disappointed about this decision & hope the “powers that be” reverse their decision!! I’d like to know why the few excellent shows on television are the ones that are always cancelled & junk shows (reality shows, etc.) Are renewed for years. Has the “younger” generations been “dumded” down to the point where they don’t want to appreciate a great story line? What’s the chance of it going online?

I am way more than just disappointed to read that Tyrant is canceled, this isn’t just some regular tv show this was something we all haven’t seen tyrant has shown us what it’s like to live in the Middle East and how hard it is. It’s a unique show and i think we deserve to have it continued. There are so many stupid and boring tv shows that should be canceld but tyrant is definitely not one of them , i have many favorite tv shows i watch and tyrant is no.1 on my list it makes me look at… Read more »

I understand cancelling a series there’s so many different reasons why what I don’t understand is the disregard for the followers that it has we are all left with no ending there should have been some kind of wrap up you just leave the followers hanging makes it hard to watch another show on this station if you have no respect for my time that I gave to watch your show and give me an ending how will I know the next show would not do the same

I agree with the majority of comments here.
Tyrant is a great show with a good story line which has kept me wanting more for the past three years. Its a shame to end it this way especially without a proper conclusion and nothing to replace it. I for one am sick of reality TV. I watch TV to escape reality and be entertained. Tyrant was able to fulfil this need for me. I am sure many more people will be as disappointed as I am at the ending of this entertaining show. Please bring it back for another season.

We really enjoyed Tyrant and are disappointed to learn it is cancelled. Maybe Amazon or Netflix will consider continuing this interesting show.
