Despite the fact that it airs on Friday nights, Blue Bloods has continued to be a ratings success story for CBS. However, scripted shows tend to get more expensive as the years wear on. How long will this police family drama continue? Will it be cancelled or will it be renewed for an eighth season? Stay tuned.
Blue Bloods revolves around the Irish-American Reagans, a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. The cast includes Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Amy Carlson, Sami Gayle, Vanessa Ray, and Marisa Ramirez.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/23 update: Blue Bloods has been renewed for an eighth season. Details here.
5/6 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The sixth season of Blue Bloods averaged a 1.24 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.50 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Blue Bloods TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season eight on CBS?
Tom Selleck has been an Icon of American Cinema since his days being Magnum PI! His current characters as Frank Reagan and Jesse Stone just cements his position as an American Classic! YES, Blue Bloods and the rest of the cast should return for Season 8 and for many more seasons. The entire cast of Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck at the helm still has characters which needs to be explored with depth and continues to offer us the fans, many more stories in a series that never gets old.

WE CAN’T LOSE AMERICA’S FIRST FAMILY WHICH ARE THE REGANS !!!!!!!
Please renew for another season!!
It should stay. It is the best show ever and as Tom Selleck states, it’s character driven. The story lines and family dinners keep us coming back for more.
Please don’t cancel keep the whole cast
Why is Tom Selleck thinking about leaving this fantastic show. All the actors on the show are great and they seem like a real family. Is it the money or what. The studio should pay whatever the new costs may be because it’s worth it. So Forgetaboutit. As the expression goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Please keep Tom Selleck on and renew Blue Bloods for many more seasons to come. I hope Tom Selleck and the show’s execs read all these positive comments.
I believe that with all the talent on blue bloods the show can and should go on with season eight it will survive without Tom Selleck
