What’s next for Criminal Minds? Recently, CBS Entertainment chief Kelly Kahl spoke with Deadline about the future of the TV show.
The long-running crime drama follows the FBI’s elite Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) out of Quantico, Virginia. The cast includes Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, Daniel Henney, and Aisha Tyler.
During this year’s summer TCA press conference, Kahl revealed they may be more episodes in store for season 14 of Criminal Minds. As previously reported, the network has ordered only 15 episodes for the upcoming season:
As scheduling evolves and we try to get more original episodes on air, we have to cut and paste and sometime trimming episodes on some of those shows to get more originals on the air. They possibly can get a couple of more episodes. It depends where they are in production, they will let us know when (we need to make that call).”
And what about the future of the series? Will season 14 be the final season? Kahl says that’s to be decided:
I’m not saying this is the last season. We will have an honest discussion with them at the right time.”
Season 14 of Criminal Minds premieres on CBS on September 26th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

I love criminal minds, it is my favorite show on TV. Please do not cancel. The acting is great and the characters are wonderful and draw you in.
This is one show I watch religiously plus every rerun I find. Please consider your viewers before you kill the show. CBS will lose so many viewers. Without CM I probably won’t watch any of your other shows.
This is without a doubt my favorite show on TV…I love all the characters and the actors that play them. This is my fallback show when there is nothing else on TV…saying that I refer to watching the old shows over and over. I can guarantee you that I have seen all past episodes at least 5 times…I have Netflix and I watch every season till the end and then start over again. I go to sleep hearing their voices at night. NO! Please leave Criminal Minds right where it is. Such a great team, cast, stories. They bring relevant things into their crimes. I watch the reruns anytime it’s on any channel. This is one of the best criminal shows. Please don’t start messing with it. Too many people love criminal minds .
OMG if this show gets cancelled I will seriously never watch CBS again. Please don’t cancel Criminal Minds. I’ve been watching this show since it aired and am hoping to watch it for many many years. I even watch the re-runs because this show is so good. Keep it on CBS.
We like the show but liked some of the older versions better where the BAU went deeper into their discussions and explanations. A bit more psycho-babble please. Please keep the show
Why is it that the really loyal fans are the ones that suffer. I have invested a lot of years with C.M. though all the changes and ups and downs. It’s the best show on TV and you want to cancel it. When you do I’ll be moving to ABC!

Still one of the best shows on television. Interesting angle to see things from the criminal’s perspective. Superb cast and much-loved characters. This show is evergreen; its reruns on other networks always get good ratings. Best for the network to keep stockpiling episodes. Please keep it going.
