While some cable channels have found great ratings success with horror shows, the broadcast networks have often struggled with the genre. How will FOX do with The Exorcist? Will it be a hit or a flop? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Based on the 1973 feature film, The Exorcist follows two very different priests. Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) is progressive, ambitious and compassionate. Meanwhile, Father Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) is relentless, abrasive and utterly consumed by his mission. Together, they tackle a family’s case of a horrifying demonic possession. The series also stars Kurt Egyiawan, Geena Davis, Alan Ruck, Brianne Howey, and Hannah Kasulka.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. The show needs to pickup a bit, but I am loyal watcher. Watch the movie when I was 7, and still watch whenever I can. And I’ve also read the book. Love it!!
This is an absolutely awesome series so far. The story line and character development is very deep and layered. Hopefully if will continue to gain more audience.

No, the views are not counted. I think it´s the same for the streaming and the reruns

I think it’s ridiculous to count us out, as so many people (I’m sure) prefer to purchase a certain series for one reason or another (I won’t watch commercials, for one). Surely everyone in the business can’t be this stupid…to exclude what could possibly be the largest audience for the show, but again, I’m thinking logically. My fault. 😉

Where did the Live +3 figures that were on this page go?
I’m a fan of the show and was hoping the dvr ratings were going to pick it up.
Unfortunately, we aren’t able to get the numbers consistently.
Is that because they’re not published?
I thought they were more of an indicator as to a show being picked up. It seems The Exorcist Friday night slot Live +SD figures aren’t really an indicator of who’s watching the show as a lot of people DVR it.
Nielsen is very proprietary about their data and anything other than Live +SD is very difficult to get on a regular basis, including the Live +3 day ratings. Networks get paid for commercial viewing up to three days after the broadcast (C3 ratings). Those are the most important numbers for the networks. Unfortunately, they are rarely released. The C3 numbers are much lower than the Live +3 ones because most people use their DVRs to skip commercials. It’s hard to even believe the ratings started out this low, tho a 1.0 I the 18-49 isn’t bad for FOX on Friday. Th Exorcist is surprisingly good, like REALLY good… So I hope FOX gets some good streaming $$$ out of it or it does well in DVR like Scream Queen did. FOX needs to protect this show, there’s a future here!
