Last season, the Gotham TV series dropped even further in the ratings, Yet it remained one of the top ten scripted TV shows on FOX, in the 2016-2017 television season. Since a fourth season will give them a decent sized syndication package, will Gotham be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A crime drama based on DC Comics characters, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, David Mazouz, Sean Pertwee, Erin Richards, Camren Bicondova, Drew Powell, Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, Chris Chalk, Michael Chiklis, John Doman, and Jada Pinkett Smith. The FOX series explores the early days of then-police detective James Gordon (McKenzie) and iconic Gotham City characters — before they became legends. In season four, Gotham’s infamous criminal scene emerges. It is up to Gordon and Harvey Bullock (Logue) to beat them back, but they are not alone. Bruce Wayne (Mazouz) also begins to take responsibility for his beleaguered city.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. For comparisons: The third season of Gotham averaged a 1.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.325 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).

Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.

Gotham is by far the best DCU TV series production in recent years making hits like supergirl, arrow, flash look like nickelodeon productions in comparison! !! So super well done producers, writers, directors and sublime actors for this much needed DC success treat for the fans. If u haven’t seen it yet… it’s like missing out on Nolan”s batman trilogy!!! Can’t wait for the 5th final season!!! Gotham is a DC classic already! !!
The first season of Gotham was incredible, and it’s gone downhill every season since so I’m not at all surprised at the cancellation. The writers went in a different direction from what made it so popular; it got way too dark and gory. TV is supposed to be an escape. We live in a time where we are barraged with bad news of tragedies, dirty politics, mass shootings, etc., and the show took the wrong approach. I cant believe Fox would cancel Gotham. I don’t believe the ratings, and it’s the only cool show they have. Other than Lucifer, if they didn’t cancel that to. they have to see it through to the end. We will boycott all Fox programs if you cancel Gotham!

Unbelievable!! This is one show that is exceptional in so many ways. Not everyone watches same night showings, I myself buy the season on Amazon then watch once I get time. These ratings are not correct. This is one show I thought would had lasted at least 8 or more seasons. This is a great loss in so many ways! I can only hope they reconsider for all us loyal fans!
This show shouldn’t get cancel its the most amazing series I ever seen not to be dramatic but it’s really unique characters and everything this show should get renewed for not just season 5 but for many seasons
