The Grinder isn’t the only show from FOX’s Tuesday night block to be cancelled. TVLine reports the network has also cancelled Grandfathered after one season.
The comedy starred John Stamos as an aging ladies’ man who discovers not only does he have a son (Josh Peck) he never knew about, but he also has a new granddaughter. Paget Brewster, Christina Milian, Kelly Jenrette, and Ravi Patel also starred.
Ratings were never particularly high during Grandfathered‘s first season, with the show only receiving an average of .92 in the 18-49 demo and a total of 2.728 million viewers.
Josh Peck confirmed the cancellation on his Twitter:

I am so upset that Grandfathered is cancelled. This show was very funny and had a great cast! Pager Brewster showed her comedic side quite well and John Stamos was superb. I laughed during each episode, looked forward to watching it every week, and was also looking forward to a 2nd season, but alas, Fox cancelled it instead.
I’m also disappointed that The Grinder was also cancelled…
Fox obvious know what a great show really is.
Why in the world does FOX keep canceling great scripted shows and keep horrid shows like Empire?!?! What a disappointment for ppl who actually like comedies and not only want to watch characters like “cookie” act like rats!! Horrible decision Fox!!!!
I really enjoyed this show!! It made me laugh and I always love watching Josh Peck and John Stamos. Wish it would have a season 2…especially with the perfect cliff hanger! Jimmy is heartbroken 🙁

I thought it was a cute show. The different characters were each starting to get their own identity and work into new relationships. I was looking forward to see where they were all going. Please reconsider. Such a nice break from reality shows.

I loved this show I was always looking forward to Tuesdays to watch the show I would put my timer on my TV so it can turn on and automatically change it to grandfathered please reconsider and bring the show back.

I really loved the show Grandfathered. As far as comedy’s go most are so stupid they are not even funny but this show had character. So sad please reconsider another season. I always looked forward to watching it.
I’m so very sad they canceled the show. I don’t watch tv series at all and the one time I finally get into one, it had to get canceled. I loved the show and it always put a smile on my face. I seriously couldn’t wait until Tuesday so that I could watch my show.

I was so upset to hear this news. T.v is being taken over my all this so called reality crap. I just get into watching a show,and they cancel it. I work shift work (3 shifts) so I have to rely watching most shows on Rogers on Demand so I don’t often get to watch on original airing date. I loved seeing John Stamos and Paget Brewster together. I miss her on CM and it was so nice to see John Stamos again. I’m just about ready to give up on T.V. altogether.
I’m shocked and truly saddened by these news. It was such a great family show. I’m 25 and I watched it with my younger brother and my mom. This show would always helps us unwind from all the craziness that we have on TV nowadays. Fox finally had something I liked and this is what they do 🙁
This was one of our favorite new shows. People who did not watch it don’t know what they missed. Big mistake not bringing it back. I guess all we get now is crime and reality shows……bummer!
