The Grinder isn’t the only show from FOX’s Tuesday night block to be cancelled. TVLine reports the network has also cancelled Grandfathered after one season.
The comedy starred John Stamos as an aging ladies’ man who discovers not only does he have a son (Josh Peck) he never knew about, but he also has a new granddaughter. Paget Brewster, Christina Milian, Kelly Jenrette, and Ravi Patel also starred.
Ratings were never particularly high during Grandfathered‘s first season, with the show only receiving an average of .92 in the 18-49 demo and a total of 2.728 million viewers.
Josh Peck confirmed the cancellation on his Twitter:

Very sad it isn’t renewed. Loved the show. I am 53 and watched it with my 14 year old granddaughter. We are both very disappointed.

I really enjoyed the show – was looking forward to see how the various relationships would work out. Very cute, funny sitcom that had a good moral to every story.
My daughter and I LOVE Grandfathered and are so disappointed it was cancelled. We looked forward to watching it every week! Please bring it back. It’s a great show! Why does it seem like the shows we like get cancelled and alot of really dumb shows stay on for years? Just doesn’t make sense

This show is really amazing. It shows how anyone could change. I honestly thought that it would stay. I hope they change their minds and make a second season. Maybe it just needed more advertisement. Please bring it backk… </3
I can’t believe that you would take a good show like Grandfathered down and leave the reality shows up . I felt we were finally getting a descent show to watch. What a shame that you took it down instead of some of the garbage you have up now
I loved this show, ever time I get into a show I like it gets cancelled. People are going to stop watching local networks and start going with just cable shows or Netflix or Hulu. Bring back the show
