The Halcyon is closing its doors. RadioTimes reports ITV has cancelled the TV series after one season.
The period drama follows the staff and residents of a London hotel during World War II. The cast includes Steven Mackintosh, Olivia Williams, Hermione Corfield, and Matt Ryan.
Even though ITV has cancelled The Halcyon, the series’ showrunners are reportedly looking to other networks to pick up the WWII drama, which ended its first season on a massive cliffhanger. However, producer Chris Croucher told RadioTimes there isn’t a lot of time left to save the show:
Andy Harries, [CEO] at Left Bank hopes that there might be somewhere else that we could go. Nothing is confirmed at the moment. I believe he is trying.
It’s difficult with timeframes, because actually our option period on the actors is about to run out, and we have our beautiful hotel standing in West London, and every week that’s costing us and that adds up.
So I think a decision would need to be made very quickly.”

My husband and I are enjoying Halcyon so much the only thing darkening our enjoyment is that there is only one season. For me it is a city Downton, a look at another time, beautifully crafted.
Absolutely bring on other seasons of The Halcyon. Fantastic show. Why cancel something as good as this. So well acted, story line brilliant and music and decor fantastic. You can’t leave us hanging like this on such a brilliant show
