Is Alex O’Loughlin leaving Hawaii Five-0 or not? Recently, the star of the CBS TV show spoke with TVLine about his plans for a possible season nine.
Currently in its eighth season, the action series reboot revolves around Detective Steve McGarrett (O’Loughlin) and his elite state police task force in the state of Hawaii. The cast also includes Scott Caan, Ian Anthony Dale, Meaghan Rath, Beulah Koale, Jorge Garcia, Chi McBride, Taylor Wily, Dennis Chun, and Kimee Balmilero.
Last year, O’Loughlin said he was leaving Hawaii Five-0 after season eight. However, now it looks like his mind has changed. In a recent interview with TVLine, O’Loughlin said season nine is a possibility:
I don’t know that I’d say I got a ‘second wind’… But is there a way that I can realistically see a Season 9 being a part of my life? I think so.”
He added:
CBS has not yet announced a season nine renewal for Hawaii Five-0, but it seems likely given the series’ solid ratings.To be honest with you, mate, if you had asked me [about re-signing] two years ago, my answer would have been, like, ‘No f’–king way.’ I want a quality of life, and I want to be with my family. I’ve been able to put Humpty together again.
I am still very tired at the end of the season, and after almost 200 episodes of television. But I can sort of quietly and sensibly sit back and go, ‘There’s a version where if CBS can make a deal and be reasonable, then I’m prepared to be reasonable, too.’”

I didn’t think the show could go on first without Max and then losing Chin and Kono. Adding insult to injury by cutting down Danny’s time on the show, I was prepared to give up watching after all these years. I was wrong. It was still a great show. The new characters slid in to fill the void wonderfully.
I hope Alex doesn’t leave the series because he will be missed but I also believe that the remaining characters can continue on to keep me interested and remain a loyal fan.

I would love to see Hawaii-50 go for many more seasons as long as Alex O’Loughlin is in it!
Most definitely yes—I would love to see a “guarantee” of 10 years—so the writers know how long they have for character stuff—Love Mcgarrett ( Longer hair???) Danno, and the new cast are great–fit in perfectly. PLEASE MORE SEASONS. We want Steve to marry and live happily ever after.
Hawaii Five-O needs to have a season 9, 10, 11 and so on. Absolutely love the show and all the characters! Look forward to watching this every Friday night. Even got my brother in law addicted to the show!

I would absolutely love another couple seasons. The new actors they just hired are doing a wonderful job although I do miss Adam being with Kono and Daniel Dae Kim also. It would be a shame to have them lose their jobs so quickly after having gotten them and being so good at them. I do miss Daniel & Grace, regardless of why they left. They were natives which played a big part of their connection to the stories. Yes, Scott is a grumpy old man but that has been the dynamic from the start & they aren’t about to change as they stay together for this long. Chi, Jorge & Ian are great supporting parts as are the newbies. I’ll keep watching as long as they want to keep this going. It has been a fun reboot.
How many ways can you say heck yes!!?
Yes I would love to see another season with Alex and Scott. They are the show. Wish they would bring back Daniel and Grace back but I still love the show. Bring back Alex true love.
Definitely want another season!! I enjoy it his show immensely and would be unhappy if Alex did not stay on.
