The Last Ship is taking some time off. Deadline reports production on season five of the TNT TV series has been delayed.
The action drama follows the crew of the USS Nathan James as they try to find a cure for a deadly virus that has wiped out most of the world’s population. The cast includes Eric Dane, Bridget Regan, Adam Baldwin, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Jocko Sims, Charles Parnell, Christina Elmore, Bren Foster, and Kevin Michael Martin.
According to Deadline, season five production has been put on hiatus due to star Eric Dane’s ongoing issues with depression. Per The Last Ship star’s publicist, “Eric asked for a break to deal with personal issues. He suffers from depression and has asked for a few weeks of down time, and the producers kindly granted that request. He looks forward to returning.”
The break in production will not affect the upcoming fourth season of the TNT series, which has already been shot. Season five of The Last Ship is slated to premiere in summer 2018.
