canceled + renewed TV shows - TV Series Finale

The OA: Season Two? Netflix Creators Have “Whole Worlds” Worked Out

by Jessica Pena, December 27, 2016

The OA TV show on Netflix: canceled or renewed?

What does the future look like for The OA? Recently, creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the possibility of a second season for the Netflix original series.

The eight-part drama explores what happens during the years when a young woman goes missing. Marling, Emory Cohen, Scott Wilson, Phyllis Smith, Jason Isaacs, and Alice Krige star.

In the interview, Batmanglij said the two have created a whole world for the series that could be explored in more seasons:

I think this is a story that’s carefully planned. I don’t think any of us have thought about a second season right now because we’re exhausted, but yeah, when we started, Brit and I spent two or three years conceiving of a whole world before we brought it to anybody, before it ever left our bedrooms. Things are going on there.”

Marling later added that she hopes there will be a second season:

I think from the very beginning when we were on our own daydreaming a story, we definitely thought how can we construct something that, many seasons out, has a satisfying end? So there is an end and there is an answer to every riddle and nothing is done to just be sound and fury going nowhere. It all goes somewhere. And as to whether or not we get to tell that, I certainly hope that we do. There is a place that season two already begins in our minds and a place in which it ends.”

Netflix has not yet announced whether The OA will have a season two.

What do you think? Have you seen The OA? Do you want a second season?

Well, I just binged the OA..slow to start but then was pleasantly hooked. I’m not a Sci Fi buff..yet this was a drama Sci fi..I really enjoyed it. The end had me glued to the tv. To end like that..w Prairie saying “Homer ” ugh..I wanted more..lol I do hope we at least get a 2nd season to tie up all the loose ends. Believe in angels.. don’t ..either way it was fun & entertaining. Come on Netflix…give us another season by 2018!!

I binge watched this show. I have experienced “spiritual energy “while awake and traveling in my dreams. The series is beautifully filmed and characters interesting. Many loose ends to develop another season. Bring it to us!

The OA is certainly a show that makes you think! I am looking forward to watching Season 2
Jason Isaacs was perfect as Hap. All the acting was excellent. The story original. Not for everyone but lots of people are so passionate about it. Netflix, please….

I just binge watched this series and am definitely hooked! It is not like any other show currently available which makes it stand out from the rest in a positive way. The cliff-hanger ending of season one HAS to be continued so we are not left wondering if OA (Prairie) ends up back with Homer or not. Please feed my hunger quickly for season two and hopefully more after that!

We need a second season if for no other reason than there were too many loose ends dangling at the end of season one. The plot is offbeat, and the acting is pretty edgy, and the combination of the two make emotion palpable. I think the writers are clever enough that they’ve already got a second season written, and shrewd enough to hold out for more because they’re worth it.
