What’s This TV Show About?
A Vampire Diaries spin-off, airing on The CW television network, The Originals stars Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel. Claire Holt and Leah Pipes guest star. The CW supernatural drama series follows the Mikaelson family, the world’s first vampires who have returned to reclaim New Orleans. In season four, the Mikaelsons reunite, only to face an even bigger threat: the revival of an ancient evil with strong ties to their most vulnerable family member. After a devastating attack by this nightmarish entity, they must stand their ground and forge an alliance with those who hate them most: Marcel (Davis) and Vincent (Gatewood).
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of The Originals averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 940,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 15% and up by 1%, respectively. Learn how The Originals stacks up against the other CW TV shows.
On May 10, 2017, The Originals was renewed for a fifth season which will debut April 18, 2018. On July 20th, it was announced the series would end with season five. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Since The Vampire Diaries ended, Reign is ending, and it seems likely freshman dramas Frequency and No Tomorrow will not return, I suspect The CW will renew The Originals for season five. Much like this season though, I don’t expect they’ll issue a full 22 episode order. Subscribe to be notified of any cancellation or renewal news.

I love the Originals. I just watch all 4 seasons on Netflix. Now i hear there will be a season 5 but no 6. Is this true?
I truly have enjoyed this. It has really allowed me to take my mind away from much of the crap going on in my life.
Love this show..i have always watched The Vampire Diaries was sorry it had to end, but i think the Originals beats it by far i also like the way the two shows intertwine.
Love the relationship between the siblings and the stories are always amazing,currently love the relationship between Hope and Klaus.
Do not end the show keep it rolling there is always going to be wonderful stories to keep this show going.

I enjoyed the whole show but I think season 4 should’ve been it. The last episode closes out the season so well. No more drama, trying to find peace of mind, and struggling for love. The only sad part is that Klaus couldn’t see Hope anymore, but I think that’s why they opted for season 5. Rebekah/Marcel, Kol/Divina, and Freya/Keelin found love whereas as Elijah found freedom. So once they bring back The Originals for season 5 Klaus better have a true love, the hollow gone forever, no more loss, and the Mikaelson family reunited for good. That’s all I’m… Read more »

I am in love with The Originals. After Vampire Diaries paused at season 7 I was seeking a new series to watch. Hence I found The Originals. I like the fact that there is always something happening (some new evil). It keeps the fans on their toes. The bond among the Michealsons is amazing. There could’ve been more romance between Hailey & Elijah. Hope was a nice addition to the family. Not sure if I like the witch sister’s relationship, kinda pointless. Love, love the originals especially, Klaus, Elijah, Hailey, Rebekah and Marcel! I didn’t care much for the latest story line of the Hollow though. We need more vampire/werewolf action. Elijah and Hailey are hot together and Klaus needs a love. I loved the storyline of Klaus and Cami before you killed her off.
I do dvr the show and am in my early 60’s and love the show and there aren’t many on tv that I do watch.
SO glad it’s going to be renewed! I would’ve died. LOVE the show. Definitely need more Klaus.
So there will be a season 6? For us here in Ontario Canada the Originals has finished with this dumb Hollow as season 6. Reading above comments it states season 5 was the final season and the splitting up if the hollow.
So 7 we are waiting for with bated breath. Does anyone else agree that Elijah is still in There? MARCEL told him to forget the promise not to be a poor lounge singer. I think he is still there. Klaus could have screwed them by watching and connecting with Elijah playing piano. ??? Right??

Don’t you dare cancel this show! This is a show me and my later teenage kids watch. We all have a different favorite Michaelson and have fun discussions about the show.
Agreed. I watch it alone for the whole 6 seasons. I’m in my 50’s…..so???? Not everything needs to be for the kids.!!
