CBS’ Saturday night series Ransom was never a huge success, and now it’s been revealed they’ve cancelled the TV show after one season.

The drama follows Eric Beaumont (Luke Roberts), an experienced crisis and hostage negotiator, and his team who are brought in to save lives when no one else can. The cast also includes Brandon Jay McLaren, Nazneen Contractor, and Sarah Greene.
Ransom debuted on a Sunday night in January to a low rating of 0.85 in the 18-49 demo and 6.65 million viewers. Once the show moved to its regular timeslot on Saturday nights, the numbers dropped even further. Overall, season one averaged a 0.43 in the 18-49 demo and 3.46 million viewers, making it CBS’ lowest-rated series for the 2016-2017 season.
However, despite low ratings, the show did have fans. When we asked viewers if they’d watch a second season of Ransom, 91% said “yes.”
Additionally, the show was produced internationally which made it less expensive for CBS than some of the network’s other series. Nevertheless, the network has decided not to move on with Ransom.

I hope the show gets renewed. I do hope the network will change their minds. The show is different from regular law and order shows. I looked forward to each episode.
I enjoyed the show very much. Disappointed it was cancelled. Was nice to see a series that wasn’t full of violence and bad language. I liked the premise behind the show.
I watched and enjoyed the first season and would return for another. Can’t say it was a favorite, but pickings are slim on weekends
I really hope theres a season 2 just hate it when a series stops with a bang and dont return not nice.i still wonder whats going to happen next.you cant end a series the a bang to start a next season with.
I would like to see more because Beaumont’s daughter was taken hostage by this Damien. If the hostage taking show does not put back, then I will not step down.

An intelligent show that illustrated problem solving without shoot-em up violence? How refreshing for those of us who don’t relish guns and gore on television. Obviously, CBS does not think much of this audience. Hopefully RANSOM will see more seasons as it shows in Canada, some European countries as well as Australia. Hopefully, these other countries and distributors hear that fans really enjoy the show. It’s a multi-national co-production that enjoys many Canadian and European film production tax breaks — there may be hope for fans yet ….. think Flashpoint, Rookie Blue, Due South.
Please bring Ransom back! I can’t believe CBS is cancelling great new shows with fresh new story lines; it was my favorite new show & couldn’t wait for the next episode to air! Put it on during the week & it will do much better. Also loved Pure Genius & looked forward to it each week! Come on, CBS, I’m about to CANCEL YOU from my TV!!!
Very disappointed this show is cancelled. Makes you wonder why you bother to watch a new series the first year because they are constantly cancelling their new shows before people can even find them and start watching!!
I totally agree with you. Every time I invest in a new show it keeps getting cancelled.
I am very disappointed again in CBS for cancelling yet another good show. I enjoyed it so much that I have even been watching the reruns. I only hope another network picks it up for Season 2. Please ABC or NBC consider this show, it is worth it.

Loved this show! Hate to see it cancelled as well as Pure Genius! Very disappointing….anyone ever stop to consider ratings drop because alot of viewers stream versus watch live? Very close to cancelling my CBS all access since they are cancelling all the shows I like….Criminal Minds Beyond Borders is another….just sad.

I have decided that there is no reason to watch CBS any longer. I was hoping that Ransom would be renewed and give me a reason to select CBS for another season. Apparently the network doesn’t want older viewers to enjoy the programming. Good luck CBS when all your young viewers age,maybe you will survive a few more years.
Totally agree! They cancelled several shows we watch…and I pay for CBS…
