TNT has announced that The Closer is returning on Monday, July 11th, with 10 new episodes. Will that be the end of cable’s most popular TV series? Not quite.
Last July, TNT announced that The Closer had been renewed for a seventh season of 15 episodes. In December, they revealed that season seven was now considered the final season and there wouldn’t be an eighth. Series star Kyra Sedgwick apparently felt it was time to call it quits. She said, “I want to thank TNT and Warner Bros. Television, as well as the incredible fans of The Closer, for all of their unwavering support over the last seven years.”
In January, TNT began rethinking their wanting to end their most popular series. It was later decided to add six more episodes to the order. So, 10 will air this summer, another five will air over the winter, and then the final six installments will run during the summer of 2012.
The final six episodes will serve as a goodbye to Sedgwick’s Brenda Leigh Johnson. They’ll also set up a potential spin-off series that would probably include the rest of The Closer characters and a new lead. At last report, the new show will be called Major Crimes and focus on the behind-the-scenes deal-making that keeps dangerous criminals off death row.

It’s a shame the closer is going off the air. I love this show. Whatever Kyra decides to do I know it’ll be just a big a hit as this one is.
I do not want to see The Closer end. My husband and I both love watching it, especially with Kyra and her character. This show made us decide we really like Kyra as an actress and would like to see more of her. We love ALL the characters on the show, but especially Kyra. She really makes the show. PLEASE DO NOT END IT!!! It is a decent show and we have kept looking for it to return even before this summer!!!!
PLEASE,PLEASE don’t cancel the show, it’s my favorite show, these days there are really not too many shows that are as good as good as the Closer, Kyra is a damn good actress and the rest of the supporting cast is terrific. What you can do is cancel Razzoli & Isles, I don’t think that show will be missed. You sure have pissed me off and a lot of other viewers who also love the closer as much as me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu.
Brenda don’t go .Please we will miss you and the gang you work with stay a little while longer, Reynolds cannot leave. please please don’t cancel the show .The best show on T V. AND REYNOLDS IF THEY DO A SPIN OFF DON’T LEAVE PLEASE STAY AND DO THE RUN-OFF.

If doom 1 wings to call it quits. They should be replace. It does not mean you have to cancel the show!:(

The Closer is my favorite scripted show and I have to see Kyra leave. Capt. Rader’s character cannot replace Brenda Lee in any way, shape, or form. I have enjoyed every season and will miss the show greatly.
Why is it that whenever yu guy’s have a hit show, you end up cancelling it? I will always be “The Closer” fan! It’s so different from any other cop show I’ve ever seen. I think you guy’s are making a big mistake. I am not a fan of all those stupid reality shows except for Big Brother, Dancing With the Stars, and Surviver. The rest are so stupid! People airing their dirty laundry all ove the screen. It’s terrible. No one cares about these greedy people. The Closer will surely be missed! Juliet M. Castille
Please continue the “Show”. no matter what title you give it. The entire cast should be included without Kyra. It would be a perfect time to elevate the “Captain” to her job. She is tough yet sensitive. The rest of the cast will fall in place . It is the best written show on TV and if you decide to let it die, I’ll feel that TV has lost a golden nugget of pure entertainment. Gus Chiarello
